Mazia are a solo project from the United States that plays a mixture of black metal and dungeon synth and this is a review of his 2023 ep "Atychiphobia" which will be released on April 14th by Syrup Moose Records.
Epic sounding synths start off t he ep while also introducing elements of dungeon synth and using a variety of many different sounding keys which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. Drum b eats can also be heard at times and most of the tracks are also in an instrumental direction.
When vocals are utilized on one song they are mostly grim black metal screams while the faster sections of the songs also add in a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very dark yet melodic style and the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Mzia plays a musical style t hat takes black metal and dungeon synth and mixed them together to create a sound of his own as well as sticking to mostly an instrumental direction and the production sounds very dark and raw.
In my opinion Mazia are a very great sounding mixture of black metal and dungeon synth and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The True Terror" and "Imposter Syndrome". 8 out of 10.
