Hasard are a solo project from France that plays a very dissonant form of black metal and this is a review of their 2023 album "Malivore" which will be released in May by I, Voidhanger Records.
Dark soundscapes start off the album along with some grim black metal screams a few seconds later which also takes the music into a heavier direction. The music also a ds in a great amount of dissonant structures while all of the tracks are also very long and epic in length and the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of blast beats.
When tremolo picking is added into the faster riffing they also give the music more of a raw feeling while growls can also be heard at times. Orchestra sounds are also mixed in with some of the heavier sections of the songs along with the riffs also adding in a great amount of melody and throughout the recording you can also hear a food mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
The album also has its symphonic moments along with some piano's and classical music elements also being added into certain sections of the recording. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they also b ring in more of a melodic yet dissonant style, death metal growls can also be heard in some parts of the album. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in French and cover the deepest darkness of the human soul.
In my opinion Hasard are a very great sounding dissonant black metal solo project with elements of classical music and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Hypnocentrisme" and "Interespace". 8 out of 10.
