Cincinnati, Ohio's solo project Xenomorph has returned with a new recording which shows the music going for more of a mid tempo, raw and nihilistic style of black metal from his previous releases and this is a review of his self released 2023 ep "Delusions Ov Morality".
Synths and apocalyptic soundscapes start off the ep along with a brief use of spoken word samples before going into a heavier musical direction. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very dark yet melodic style while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams.
All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them while t he spoken word samples and synths also return on the later songs which also gives the music more of an atmospheric and symphonic feeling. When the music speeds up a small amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the recording more of a raw edge and most of the recording sticks to a a mid tempo direction.
On this recording Xenomoph goes for more of a mid tempo, raw and sci-fi orientated form of nihilistic black metal which is also very different from his previous releases. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are based upon the paintings of H.R Giger and the Alien film series.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Xenomorph and if you are a fan of raw and nihilistic black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKIS INCLUDE "Delusions Ov Mortality" and "Meredes Monstres". 8 out of 10.
