Beleth are a band from Italy that plays a very old school and bestial mixture of war, black and death metal and this is a review of their self released 2022 album "Nephilim".
Ritualistic soundscapes start off the album before going into a heavier direction while the bass guitar is also used a lead instrument on the recording. When the music speeds up a great amount of war metal elements and blast beats can be heard along with the vocals being mostly bestial and guttural growls.
A lot of the music also shows an influence of 90's era black metal while the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. At times the songs also get very raw sounding along with a couple of songs also adding in a brief use of sex and murder samples as well as some guitar leads also being utilized briefly on a couple of tracks and all of t he music also sticks to a heavier direction.
Beleth goes back to the early 90's beginnings of the war and bestial black/death metal style of Von, Beherit and Blasphemy as well as making the bass guitar lead instrument to create something very different from the previous mentioned bands. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Satanism, Occultism, Darkness, Blasphemy and Sodomy themes.
In my opinion Beleth are a very great sounding old school and bestial mixture of war, black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Dark Virgin" "Black Art" and "The Ancient God of The Witches". 8 out of 10.
