Psychisme are a band from France that plays a very atmospheric and dissonant form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2022 ep "Le seuil des sensations".
Heavy yet dissonant sounding riffing starts off the ep while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. Whispers can also be heard briefly before evolving into grim yet high pitched black metal screams and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can also be heard.
Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while the tremolo picking also gives the music more of a raw feeling when they are utilized. The music also has its atmospheric moments along with the tracks also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and a couple of the songs are also long and epic in length, clean playing and acoustic guitars can also be heard in certain sections of the recording.
Psychisme plays a style of black metal that is very raw, atmospheric and dissonant sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in French and cover emotional states in relation to anxiety and wrath crisis that are violent past trauma related.
In my opinion Psychisme are a very great sounding atmospheric, dissonant and raw black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Soubresauts" and "Le seuil des sensations". 8 out of 10.
