Swampworm are a solo project from Germany that plays a dissonant form of black metal and this is a review of his self released 2022 ep "NAHAB".
Dissonant style riffing starts of the ep and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs while spoken word parts can also be heard briefly. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while the faster sections of the songs also add in a decent amount of blast b eats and melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing.
When tremolo picking is utilized they also give the songs more of a raw feeling while the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Some of the riffing also shows an influence of grindcore along with the solos and leads also sticking to a more dissonant yet melodic style.
Swampworm plays a style of black metal that is very aggressive and dissonant sounding. The production sounds very dark, lo-fi and raw while the lyrics are written in German and are based upon the writings of H.P Lovecraft.
In my opinion Swam[worm are a very great sounding dissonant black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Zeitlaich" and "Erde". 8 out of 10.
