Ljuska are a solo project from Serbia that plays an atmospheric and dissonant form of black metal and this is a review of his 2022 album "Thanatamnesis" which will be released on April 30th by Vargheist Records.
Apocalyptic soundscapes start off the album before going into a heavier musical direction while a great portion of the tracks are also very long and epic in length. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams along with some growls also being utilized at times and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can also be heard.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the solos and leads are also done in a very dark, chaotic yet melodic style. All of the musical instruments on the album also have a very powerful sound to them and clean playing can also be heard on some of the tracks.
Dissonant structures can also be heard in some of the riffs and leads along with the music also having its atmospheric moments as well as the tremolo picking also giving the songs more of a raw feeling when they are utilized, melodic chants and whispers can also be heard briefly. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover esoteric lore and rituals.
In my opinion Ljuska are a very great sounding atmospheric and dissonant black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Abysmal Ingression" "Seeds On Stones" and "Exertion of The Strife". 8 out of 10.
