Trembling Void are a solo project from Canada that plays a very raw and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2022 demo which will be released in July by Inferna Profundus Records.
Dark sounding synths start off the demo before going into a heavier yet melodic direction while also capturing a lo-fi atmosphere at times. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams along with all of the musical instruments on the recording also having a very powerful sound to them.
Synths can also be heard at times while the songs also mixes in some influences from the 2nd and 3rd wave eras of the genre. When the music speeds up ma decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the demo more of a raw feeling along with the music also having its depressive moments.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast, along with the guitar solos and leads being done in a very dark yet melodic style when they are utilized as well as one track also introducing clean playing onto the demo. The production sounds very dark, raw and lo-fi while the lyrics cover darkness, death and negativity themes.
In my opinion Trembling Void are a very great sounding raw and lo-fi black metal solo project and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Harbinger Of Hurt" "Choke On The Blood" and "Death, The Only Reprive". 8 out of 10.
