Poland's Misanthropic Rage have returned with a new recording which shows the music adding elements of death metal into their avant garde style of black metal and this is a review of their 2022 album "Hallucinatory Phenomena" which will be released in may by Godz Of War Productions.
Spoken word parts start off the album before going into a heavier musical direction while melodies are also added into some of the riffing. Vocals are also a mixture of growls which add in touches of death metal and clear singing and the solos and leads are also done in a very dark yet melodic style.
At times the music also gets very avant garde sounding while black metal screams are also a very huge part of the recording. When the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also give the songs more of a raw feeling and throughout the album you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. a couple of the tracks are also very long and epic in length and clean playing and acoustic guitars can also be at times.
On this recording Misanthropic Rage takes their avant garde style of black metal and mixes it with death metal to create something very different from previous releases. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover misanthropy, hatred, misery and pain themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Misanthropic Rage and if you are a fan of avant garde black and death metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Birth Of Insanity" "Void" and "Hallucinatory Phenomena". 8 out of 10.
