In Chasms Deep are a solo project from Georgia that plays a very atmospheric form of post black metal and this is a review of his self released 2020 album "The Wind And Her Lament".
Tragic sounding keyboards start off the album while clean playing is also added into some parts of the recording. Half of the songs are also very long and epic in length along with the music also bringing in elements of post rock at times and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard.
Vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched black metal screams while the riffs also add in a great amount of melody. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style along with the tremolo picking also giving the songs more of a raw feeling when it is utilized.
At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding along with the songs also adding in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Growls can also be heard in some parts of the recording as well as a couple of the tracks also being instrumentals. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are a concept album based upon air, earth, fire and water.
In my opinion In Chasms Deep are a very great sounding atmospheric post black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genres, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Wind And Her Lament" and "Fading Into Rain". 8 out of 10.
