Svartsyn are a band from Sweden that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays a satanic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "Requiem" which will be released in October by Carnal Records.
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the album while the vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams. All of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with the riffs also adding in a decent amount of melody and the solos and leads are also done in a very dark yet melodic style.
When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the music also bringing in more of a modern style, all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them and the whole album also sticks to a heavier musical direction and melodic chants can also be heard briefly towards the end.
On this recording Svartsyn plays more of a modern style of satanic black metal that is very different from their earlier material which was more of a raw Swedish style but still very aggressive style and expanding their music to another level. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover the destruction of western civilization and the rise of the Antichrist and his eternal kingdom.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Svartsyn and if you are a fan of satanic black metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Inner Demonic Rise" and "Soiritual Subjection". 8 out of 10.
