United Kingdom's Ninkharsag have returned with a new recording which continues the raw and melodic style of black metal from t heir previous releases and this is a review of their 2020 ep "Discipline Through Black Sorcery" which was released by Vendetta Records.
A very fast and melodic sound starts off the ep along with a great amount of blast beats while the tremolo picking also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. The songs also add in a great amount of 90's influences along with the vocals being mostly grim yet high pitched black metal screams.
The songs also adds in a touch of the Swedish style while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style along with the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
On this recording Ninkharsag remains true to the raw and melodic style of occult black emtal that they have established on previous releases. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Magick and Occultism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Ninkharsag and if you are a fan of raw and melodic occult black emtal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Discipline through Black Sorcery". 8 out of 10.
