Ominous Resurrection are a band from New York that plays an occult form of black metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "Judgement" which will be released on August 28th by Terratur Possessions.
Ritualistic soundscapes start off the album before going into a heavier musical direction while the vocals are done in a grim black metal screaming style that is more closer to the mid 80's and early 90's eras. Most of the tracks are very long and epic in length and dark sounding melodies are also added into some of the riffing.
Synths can also be heard in certain sections of the recording while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of melody. When tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the songs more of a raw feeling along with one track also introducing clean playing onto the album and a lot of the songs also sound like they could of easily been recorded and released more than 25 years ago.
Ominous Resurrection plays a style of occult black metal that is very atmospheric sounding and heavily rooted in the classic Greek and Italian style. The production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover Occultism themes.
In my opinion Ominous Resurrection are a very great sounding occult black metal band and if you are a fan o this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Judgement" "Sons of The Pleiades" and "Genetic Providence". 8 out of 10.
