Mork Hest are a solo project from The Ozarks that plays a very raw and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of his self released 2020 ep "Unsound Despair".
Semi clean playing starts off the ep before going into a heavier musical direction while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of blast beats. When tremolo picking us utilized it also gives the music more of a raw feeling along with a couple of tracks also being long and epic in length.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams while the songs also add in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Atmospheric elements are also added into the heavier sections of the music along with some tracks also adding in a small amount of clean playing as well as some clear vocals also being utilized briefly.
Mork Hest plays a style of black metal that is very raw and atmospheric sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover the Ozark wilderness that is slowly being destroyed by human interference and negligence.
In my opinion Mork Hest are a very great sounding raw and atmospheric black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Forlorn" and "Unsound Despair". 8 out of 10.
