Pyrrhic are a band from Norway that plays a mixture of black'n'roll and death metal and this is a review of their self released 2020 ep "Vile Slumber" which will be released in September.
Melodic guitar leads start off the ep along with some heavy riffing a few seconds later while the vocals are mostly grim black metal screams. Clean playing is also added into some parts of the recording while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. Guttural sounding death metal growls are also added into some parts of the recording while the mid tempo sections of the songs also add in elements of black'n'roll.
The songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some clean vocals can also be heard on a few tracks and they also add in a touch of power metal. At times the music also gets very technical sounding as well as every song also sounding very different from each other. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Pyrrhic are a very great sounding mixture of black'n'roll and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Deafening The Light" and "Vile Slumber". 8 out of 10.
