Vintlechkeit are a band from Norway that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays a very raw, atmospheric and ambient form of black metal and this is a review of their 2020 compilation album "Vinteren inn Svartfjellet.../Dodsteed" which was released by Morbid Chapel Records and consists of a couple of demo's that where released in 2019.
Ambient style soundscapes and synths start off the compilation and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the music at times. Most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length while the riffs also add in a great amount of melody while the vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched black metal screams.
At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding while the guitar solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style. Clean playing can also be heard on some of the tracks along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a decent amount of blast beats and tremolo picking which also gives the music more of a raw feeling.
The songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with one of t he tracks also being an instrumental as well as some filed recordings also being utilized at times and the songs from the Dodsteed demo where also reviewed in my previous review of the band. The production sounds very dark, raw and lo-fi while the lyrics are written in Norwegian and cover darkness, death and winter themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding collection from Vintlechkeit and if you are a fan of raw, atmospheric and ambient black metal, you should check out this compilation. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Norgeskuggar" and "Dodsteed...". 8 out of 10.
