Lunar Chalice are a band from Germany that plays a very raw and old school form of satanic black metal and this is a review of their 2020 ep "Medieval Cults Of Heresy" which was released by Dominance Of Darkness Records.
A very dark, heavy and melodic sound starts off the ep while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling. Vocals are mostly angry sounding black metal screams and the music is also very heavily rooted in the 90's era.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. At times the screams also get very high pitched along with some clean vocals also being utilized briefly and the whole recording also always sticks to a heavier musical direction.
Lunar Chalice plays a style of satanic black metal that is very raw and old school in the 90's tradition. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Satanism, Witchcraft and Heresy themes.
In my opinion Lunar Chalice are a very great sounding raw and old school satanic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Devils Work(Teufelsburg)" and "Medeival Cults of heresy". 8/5 out of 10.
