Leeches are a band from Greece that consists of members from Dodsferd, Sorgelig and Isolert and plays a very raw and misanthropic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2020 ep "A Plague In The Heart Of Light" which was released by Fucking Your Creation Records.
Fast tremolo picking and blast beats start off the ep which also gives the music more of a raw feeling while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them Vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched black metal screams along with some influences of both the 90's style
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the riffs only adding in a brief use of melody. One track is also a keyboard orientated instrumental which is also used briefly before returning back to a heavier musical direction and all of the tracks also avoid the use of any guitar solos or leads.
Leeches plays a style of black metal that is very raw, misanthropic and traditional sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover dark, violent and hateful themes.
In my opinion Leeches are a very great sounding raw and misanthropic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Flood The Universe" and "A Plague In the heart of Light". 8 out of 10.
