Finland's Mormant De Snagov have returned with a new recording which shows the music going for more of a melodic and technical style of black metal and this is a review of their 2022 album "Exquisite Aspects Of Life" which was released by Pest Records.
Field recordings start off the album before going into more of a heavier and melodic musical direction while the vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched black metal screams. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them and touches of industrial can also be heard briefly.
Death metal growls can also be heard in some parts of the recording while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style. At times the music also gets very technical sounding along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a decent amount of blast beats and the songs also add in a hood mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
When tremolo picking is utilized they also give the songs more of a raw feeling along with some tracks also adding in a small amount of synths as well as one song also introducing melodic vocals onto the album., spoken word parts can also be heard briefly. The music also brings in elements of doom and progressive metal and the closing track is also very long and epic in length. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover hateful themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Mormant De Snagov and if you are a fan of melodic and technical black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Words Corrupted" "Nothing But lies" "Saturated With Hate" and "The Vague End". 8 out of 10.
