The Nest are an international band with members from Belgium, Ireland, Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands that plays a very psychedelic and ambient form of black metal and this is a review of their 2022 album "Her True Nature" which will b e released in April by Van Records.
Ambient style synths start off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times. A great portion of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with some clean playing also being added into certain sections of the recording and the music also has its psychedelic moments.
VGrim black metal screams are also a very huge part of the album while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style when they are utilized. One of the tracks also introduces melodic singing onto the album along with some whispers also being utilized briefly and all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them.
Spoken word parts can also be heard on a couple of songs along with the riffs also adding in a small amount of melody at times as well as one song also adding in some fast tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion The Nest are a very great sounding psychedelic ambient black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Her True Nature" "The Way Of All Flesh" and "Altar". 8 out of 10.
