This is the final review of a recording from Sweden's solo project Werendia which continues the mixture of ambient, atmospheric black metal and dungeon synth from his previous releases and the album was released in 2021 by Black Death Production and called "Urheimat".
Heavy yet melodic guitar riffing starts off the album along with some programmed drum b eats a few seconds later. At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams that are mixed down low in the mix to focus on the instrumentals.
When synths are added onto the music they also bring in elements of ambient and dungeon synth and are also a very huge part of the recording. At times the album also captures the atmosphere of a fantasy movie soundtrack along with the guitar leads being done in a very melodic style when they are utilized and the whole album also sticks to a slower musical direction.
On this recording Wrendia remains true to his mixture of ambient, atmospheric black metal and dungeon synth from his previous releases as well as adding in more diversity this time around. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Germanic and Scandinavian Mythology and History themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Werendia and if you are a fan of ambient, atmospheric black metal and dungeon synth, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Urheimat II" and "Urheimat V". 8 out of 10.
