Anéanti are a duo from Belgium that plays a very dissonant, mid tempo and esoteric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2023 ep "Poison - Les formules diaboliques" which was released by Death Prayer Records.
A very dark yet heavy sound starts off the ep while you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording. During the faster sections of the songs a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the music more of a raw feeling.
Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while the songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing along with some growls also being utilized at times and the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style, the music also has its dissonant moments and classical guitars and synths are also added on the closing track.
Anéanti plays a style of black metal that is very mid tempo, dissonant and esoteric sounding. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics are written in Belgian and cover the different types of chemicals used for evil.
In my opinion Anéanti are a very great sounding mid tempo, dissonant and esoteric black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Repulsive Papal Corpse" and "Aqua Tofana". 8 out of 10.
