Plague God are a duo from Czechia that plays a very raw, old school and satanic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2023 album "New Veins For Old Blood" which was released by Fallen Temple.
A very dark sounding intro starts off the album while also adding in a brief use of keyboards before going into a heavier direction. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams while the music is also very heavily rooted in the 90's era. The songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the keyboards also making a return in certain sections of t he recording as well as one song also adding in a brief use of spoken word samples, acoustic guitars can also be heard briefly. When guitar solos and leads are finally utilized they are done in a very melodic style and the album closes with a cover of Darkthrone's "Transylvanian Hunger".
Plague God plays a style a style of black metal that is very raw, old school and satanic sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Satanism, Anti Christianity and Viking themes.
In my opinion Plague God are a very great sounding raw, old school and satanic black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this duo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Satan Give Me Strength" "Bloodbath" adn "Vikings". 8 out of 10.
