Miasmes are a band from France that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays a very raw and old school form of black metal with elements of rock'nroll and punk and this is a review of their 2023 album "Repugnance" which will be released in June by Les Acteurs de L'Ombre Productions.
A very fast and raw sound starts off the album along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and a lot of the music is also very heavily rooted in the 90's era.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they also remain true to an old school style while melodies can also be heard in the guitar riffing at times. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the songs also mixing in elements of rock'n'roll and punk and the whole album also sticks to a heavier direction.
On this recording Miasmes remains true to the punk influenced raw and old school black metal style that they introduced on their previous release. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics are written in French and cover human decay, death and apostasy themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Miasmes and if you are a fan of raw and old school black metal with elements of rock'n'roll and punk, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Prophetie" "Repulsion" "Aversion" and "pestilence". 8 out of 10.
