This is a review of another recording from United Kingdom's Obscure Lupine Quietus which shows the music going for a raw style of occult black metal and the demo was originally recorded in 2013 and called "Primeval Rituals" which was not released until 2021 and came out on Inverse Solar Reqvriem.
Ritualistic sounding synths start off the demo while chants can also be heard briefly before going into a heavier musical direction. When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling and the solos and leads are done in a very dark yet melodic style.
Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing. The songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the synths also making a return in certain sections of the recording and the spoken word parts also enhance the more ritualistic side of the music.
On this recording Obscure Lupine Quietus brought in more of a ritualistic style of occult black metal as well as incorporating more synths that where not present on later releases. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Occultism, Predatory Spiritualism and Transcendence themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Obscure Lupine Quietus and if you are a fan of ritualistic occult black metal, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Sheaths Of The Self" and "Seven Scorching Spells". 8 out of 10.
