Virulent Specter are a solo project from the United States that plays a very raw, old school, occult and satanic form of black metal with elements of death metal and this is a review of his 2023 album "Satanic Territorial Moloch" which will be released in June by Inferna Profundus Records.
A very powerful bass guitar sound starts off the album along with some drum beats a few seconds later which also takes the music into more of a heavier and primitive direction. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while death metal growls can also be heard at times and the music also adds in a great amount of 90's influences.
A couple of the tracks are also very long and epic in length while the faster sections of the songs also add in a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, synths can also be heard in certain sections of the album.
Virulent Specter plays a style of occult black metal that is very raw, old school, satanic and bass guitar orientated as well as mixing in elements of death metal to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Satanism, Occultism, Necromancy, Filth and Perversion themes.
In my opinion Virulent Specter are a very great sounding raw, old school, occult and satanic black metal solo project with elements of death metal and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Usurping The Body" "Bloodstained Walls And Floorboards" and "Perverse Invocations Of The Black Grimoire". 8/5 out of 10.
