Unendliches Eisland are a solo project from West Virginia that plays a very atmospheric, depressive, lo-fi and raw form of black metal with elements of dark ambient and this is a review of his self released and self titled 2022 album.
A very dark sounding intro starts off the album along with some synths a few seconds later which also brings in elements of ambient before going into more of a heavier and lo-fi musical direction. Most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length and the vocals are mostly high pitched depressive black metal screams.
When the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding along with some dark soundscapes also being added into certain sections of the recording, some of the tracks are also instrumentals.
Unendliches Eisland plays a style of black metal that is very atmospheric, depressive, lo-fi and raw sounding as well as mixing in elements of dark ambient to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover darkness and winter themes.
In my opinion Unendliches Eisland are a very great sounding atmospheric, depressive, lo-fi and raw black metal solo project with elements of dark ambient and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Freezing Dread" and "Kalt". 8 out of 10.
