Praznina are a solo project from Serbia that plays a very nihilistic and misanthropic style of black metal and this is a review of his 2023 compilation album " Podsvesno mrtav / Nedostižni zenit" which was released by Hammer Of Damnation and consists of his 2022 ep's.
A very dark and melodic sound starts off the compilation b efore going into more of a faster direction which also utilizes a great amount of blast b eats. Vocals are mostly angry black metal screams along with the tremolo picking also giving the songs more of a raw feeling when they are utilized.
Throughout the compilation you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. A couple of the tracks are also very long and epic in length and the solos and leads are also done in a very dark yet melodic style.
At times the vocals also get very deep sounding along with the second ep on the compilation expanding on the style of the first recording and adding in more depressive and melancholic touches. One song also adds in a brief use of synths and clean playing as well as some rain and thunder sounds also being utilized briefly. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Serbian and cover Wisdom Through Suffering, Esoteric Nihilism and Anti-Life themes.
In my opinion Praznina are a very great sounding nihilistic and misanthropic black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this compilation. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Podsvesno Mrtav" and "Obličje i Ništavilo". 8 out of 10.
