This is a review of a self released split album between Slovakia's Korium and Czech Republic's Semai and we will start of the review with Korium a band that plays a very depressive form of black metal.
Drum programming ranges from slow to mid paced beats, while the sound effects bring elements of ambient and noise to the recording, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow to mid paced depressive black metal riffs that are very dark, raw and primitive sounding with some melody being thrown into the riffing at times, while the lead guitars are very melodic sounding depressive black metal guitar solos and leads.
Vocals are all high pitched depressive black metal screams, while the lyrics cover abstract, sorrow and depressing themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound with their only song being very long and epic in length.
In my opinion Korium are a very great sounding depressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out their side of the recording. RECOMMENDED.
Next up is Semai a band that plays a mixture of black metal, noise and dark ambient.
Sound effects and synths bring in elements of noise experimental and dark ambient to the music while also having the atmosphere of depressive black metal, while the guitars are all slow black/drone metal riffs.
Vocals and songwriting are mostly absent from t heir side of the recording with the music being instrumental for the most part, while the song themes cover darkness, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it with the songs being long and epic in length and divided into two parts.
In my opinion Semai are a very great sounding hybrid of black metal, doom, drone, experimental, noise and dark ambient and if you are a fan of those musical genre's, you should check out their side of the recording. RECOMMENDED.
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and if you are a fan of depressive black metal, drone, dark ambient and noise, you should add this album to your collection. RECOMMENDED BUY.
