Intolerant Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the musical project?

Intolerant has been conceived during the lockdown of March/April to show our disgust for mankind.

2.Recently you have released your first full length can you tell us a little bit more about the musical styles that you went for on the recording?

Our goal was to compose an extreme album devoted to chaos.

The guitar riffs are inspired by the cult Black Metal bands of the 90s, while the guitar solos have many Death/Thrash Metal influences.

The drums are a declaration of war from the beginning to the end of the album: extreme distortions and high speed bpm without mercy.

We recorded everything in our home studios and after the quarantine we joined Subsound Studio where we recorded the vocals, mixed and mastered the album.

3.The band members also have experience with non metal genres like industrial, darkwave, post punk, techno, rave and hip hop, do you feel working with a lot of different musical genres has made you better musicians over the years?

Absolutely yes, it’s a matter of attitude.

You can find the same nihilistic approach in many different styles of music.

4.Some of your lyrics cover satanic topics, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in Satanism?

Satanism means rebellion. It is an attitude against the modern world, a pure concept in a polluted system of things.

Satanism stands for freedom of choice.

5.What are some of the other lyrical topics and subjects the band explores so far with the music?

The topics are war, chaos, nihilism, misanthropy, death.

6.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Intolerant'?

Hate everything, hate them all.

7.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the album cover?

Artwork has been done by Warhead: he was the only who could translate in images what Intolerant was about. He is one of our favorite artists and his work fits perfectly with our style.

8.Currently there are only 2 members in the band, are you open to expanding your line up or do you prefer to remain a duo?

We are open to collaborations and guest appearances but we’ll prefer to remain a duo.

9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of war metal?

It's still too early to say it and maybe the more traditional fans of classic metal will not appreciate our musical proposal.

We turn to a limited audience in terms of musical tastes concerned to those who listen to War Metal and extreme music in all its declinations.

10.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?

We are both involved in many different musical projects, we still keep on doing our shit. We are constantly writing new songs and arranging new productions as it’s a need for us. Soul Devourer is preparing his solo debut under the name of  Blood Artillery while Antihuman War Machine is writing down the synth parts and will finalize the work soon. We are also start writing new songs for the next Intolerant releases.

11.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

Same place, same style. We don’t think we are gonna change anything.

12.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Blasphemy, Conqueror, Diocletian, Revenge, Black Witchery: all the masters of War Metal. Obituary, Cryptopsy, Carcass, Morbid Angel concerning our Death Metal heroes. Darkthrone, Craft, Marduk, Mayhem are among our favorites.  We also found lots of similarity with raw punk bands such as Raw Noise, Doom, Discharge, Wretched that have strongly influenced us.

13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

No.

Intolerant/Primal Future/Time To Kill Records/2020 Full Length Review

Intolerant  are  a  duo  from  Italy  that  plays  a  mixture  of  war,  black  and  death  metal  with  a  musical  style  that  they  describe  as  being  'chaos  metal'  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2020  album  "Primal  Future"  which  will  be  released  on  November  27th  by  Time  To  Kill  Records.

A  very  fast,  raw  and  brutal  war  metal  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  blast  bats  and  tremolo  picking.  Harsh  noises  can  also  be  heard  in  the  background  while  the  vocals  are  a  mixture  of  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  bestial  growls  and  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  chaotic  style.

A  lot  of  the  music  also  shows  a  great  amount  of  influences  from  the  90's  and  early  200's  era  while  some  of the  tracks  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  all  of  the  riffing  done  mostly  on  power  chords  with  only  a  brief  use  of  melody.

Intolerant  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  war,  black,  death  metal  and  harsh  noise  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  War,  Apocalyptic,  Death,  Destruction,  Violence,  Hatred  and  Misanthropy  themes.

In  my  opinion  Intolerant  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  war,  black,  death  metal  and  harsh  noise  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  duo.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Bastard  Humans"  "Post-Atomic  Satanic  Whores"  "Eternal  Radioactive  Darkness"  and  "Intolerance".  8  out  of  10.
