Omenfilth/Possessed By The Pentacle Spell/Eternal Death/2022 Full Length Review

 

  Philippines's  Omenfilth  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  an  old  school  and  Greek  influenced  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their 2022  album  "Possessed  By  The  Pentacle  Spell"  which  will  be  released  in  July  by  Eternal  Death. 

  A  keyboard  orientated  sounding  intro  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  Gregorian  chants  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  and  melodies  are  also  added  into  the  guitar  riffing.   

  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal s creams  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  touch  of  the  Norwegian  style.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  also  remain  very  true  to  a  melodic  and  old  school  direction  along  with  the  tracks  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts,  

  

  Hellenic  influences  can  also  be  heard  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  along  with one  song  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  clear  vocals  and  as  the  album  progresses  keyboards  make  a  brief  return  and  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  ritualistic  feeling  as  well  as  the  closing  track  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  which  also  adds  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism  themes.   

  in  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Omenfilth  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  old  school  Greek  influenced  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Terroritual  Genocide"  "Goat  Of  The  Sabbath"  and  "Cursed  into  the  Writhing  Flames".   8  out  of  10.

Ceremonial Worship/Omenfilth/The Pact Of Morbid Conspiracy/Eternal Death/2021 Split Cassette Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Greece's  Ceremonial  Worship  and  Phillipines's   Omenfilth  called  "The  Pact  Of  Morbid  Conspiracy"  which  will  be  released  on  cassette  in  August  by  Eternal  Death  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Ceremonial  Worship  a  solo  project  that  plays  an  old  school  and  Hellenic  form  of  occult  black  metal.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  fast  and  raw  sound  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  while  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  Greek  style  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  all  of  the  music  also  always  sticking  to  a  heavier  direction,  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  finally  utilized  they  also  remains  true  to  a  90's  style.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  Darkness,  Ceremonies  and  the  Black  Arts.

  In  my  opinion  Ceremonial  Worship are  a  very  great  sounding  old  school  and  Hellenic  occult  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Into  Dungeons  Of  Mysticism"  and  "Anthems  Of  Pure  hate".  8  out  of  10.    

  Next  up  is  Omenfilth  a  band  that  returns  with  a  very  raw  and  old  school  style  of  black  metal  with  some  elements  of  death  and  thrash  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  Gregorian  chants  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  and  melodic  musical  direction.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  their  side  of  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Omenfilth  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  old  school  black  metal  with  some  touches  of  death  and  thrash  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "To  Dwell  In  The  Pits  Of  Barathrum"  and  "Arktouros".

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  old  school  and  occult  black  metal.  8/5  out  of  10.

Omenfilth/Devourer Of The Seven Moons/Eternal Death/2019 Full Length Review

  Omenfilth  are  a  band  from  the  Philippines  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  raw,  melodic  and  old  school  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2019  album  "Devourer  Of  The  Seven  Moons"  which  will  be  released  in  April  by  Eternal  Death  Records.

  A  tragic  keyboard  orientated  intro  starts  off  the  album  while  also  introducing  black  metal  screams  onto  the  recording  which  also  becomes  a  very  huge  part  of  the  music.  During  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  you  can  also  hear  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  tracks  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Dark  sounding  melodies  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  music  also  brings  in  a  great  amount  of  90's  influences.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  being  done  in  a  very  chaotic  and  old  school  style.

  Elements  of  death  and  thrash  metal  can  also  be  heard  in  the  music  at  times  while  of  tracks  are  also instrumentals  also  introduces  classical  guitars  onto  the recording  and  the  only  closes  with  a  Vulcano  cover  and  2  live  tracks.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  Filipino  Mythology,  Darkness,  Depression,  and  Evil  themes. 

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Omenfilth  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw,  melodic  and  old  school  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Summon  The  Beast  Of  Damnation"  "Devourer  Of  The  Seven  Moons"  "Negare  Omnis  Vitas"  and  "Embers  Of  A  Dying  Era".  8  out  of  10.

  Omenfilth  are  a  band  from  the  Philippines  that  plays  a  very  raw,  melodic  and  old  school  form  of  black  metal  with  some  death  and  thrash  metal  elements  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "Hymns  Of  Diabolical  Treachery"  which  will  be  released  in  July  by  Eternal  Death  Records.

  Dark  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  musical  direction  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  along  with  the  riffs  also  bringing  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody as w ell a s  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  using  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  A  great  amount  of  thrash  elements  can  also  be  heard  in  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  being  done  in  an  old  school  extreme  metal  style  as  well  as  the  music  also  adding  in  death metal  influences  at  times,  a  couple  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in length  and  as  the  album  progresses  traces  of  traditional  metal  and  classical  guitars  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  on  the  closing  track  the  music  goes  into  more  of  a  ritualistic  direction.

  Omenfilth  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  raw,  melodic  and  old  school  with  some  elements  of  death  and  thrash  metal,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  misanthropy,  apathy,  desolation,  heretic  wisdom,  occult  and  esoteric  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Omenfilth  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw,  melodic  and  old  school  black  metal  group  with  some  elements  of  death  and  thrash  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Shadows  Of  An  Unholy  War"  and  "Under  The  Scythe  of  The  Infidel". 8/5  out  of  10.
