Nattmann/Et Jordsmonn Av Døde/2024 EP Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  another  recording  from  Norway's  Nattmann  which  also  shows  the  music  going  for  an  old  school  style  of  black  metal  and  the  ep  will  be  released  in 2024  and  called  "Et Jordsmonn  Av  Døde".

  A  very  dark,  heavy  yet  melodic  sound  starts  off  the  ep  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  the  music  is  heavily  rooted  in t he  classic  Nordic  style.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  Synths  can  also  be  heard  at  times  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  mid  90's  touch  and  the  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style,  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly.    

  On  this  recording  Nattmann  expands  on  their  old  school  style  of  black  metal  with  some  more  modern  touches  without  losing  the  aggression  of  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and r aw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Norwegian  and  cover  society,  morality  and  executions  throughout  the  1600's  and  1800's.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Nattmann  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  old  school  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Trollkvine"  and  "Skafottsalme".  8  out  of  10.

Nattmann/Udaad/2023 EP Review

 

  Nattmann  are  a  band  from  Norway  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  an  old  school  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2023  ep  "Udaad".

  Drum b eats  and  spoken  word  parts  start  off  the  ep  before  the  bass  guitars  and  heavy  riffs  start  to  kick  in.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  faster  sections  of t he  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  emtal  screams  while  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  classic  Nordic  style.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts,  keyboards  can  also be   heard  briefly  and  the  guitar  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style,  clear  singing  is  also  added  on  the  closing  track.

  On  this  recording  Nattman   remains  true  to  the  old  school  style  of  black  metal  that  they  have  established  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Norwegian  and  cover  society,  morality  and  executions  from t he  1600's  to  1800's.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Nattmann  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  old  school  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Nattmann".  8  OUT  OF  10.

  Nattmann  are  a  band  from  Norway  that  plays  an  old  school  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2023  ep  "Uvigslet  Mark"  which  will  be  released  in  July.

  A  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  ep  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  some  spoken  word  parts  also  being  utilized  briefly  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.\  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  music  also  being  heavily  rooted  in  the  classic  Nordic  tradition,  keyboards  can  also  be  heard  briefly.

  Nattmann  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  classic  Nordic  style.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Norwegian  and  cover  society,  morality  and  executions  from  the  1600's  throughout  the  1900's.

  In  my  opinion  Nattmann  are  a  very  great  sounding  Norwegian  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Effer  De  Gloende  Tenger".  8  out  of  10.
