Demoncy/Diabolica Blasphemiae/Hells Headbangers Records/2023 EP Review

 

  U.S.A's  Demoncy  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  an  old  school,  occult  and  satanic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2023  ep  "Diabolica  Blasphemiae"  which  will  be  released  on  December  16th  by  Hells  Headbangers  Records.

  A  very  ritualistic  sound  starts  off  the  ep  while  chants  can  also  be  heard  briefly  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Most  of  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  era  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  emtal  screams.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  some  of  the  riffing  also  adds  in  influences  of  doom  and  death  metal.  Dark  sounding  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffs  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them,  synths  can  also  be  heard  on  the  outro  

  On  this  recording  Demoncy  remains  true  to  the  old  school,  satanic  and  occult  style  of  black  metal  that  they  have  established  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Occultism,  Darkness  and  Blasphemy  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Demoncy  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  old  school  satanic  and  occult  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Diabolica  Blasphemiae"  and  "Malum  Incarnatus  Est".  8/5  out  of  10.

Demoncy/Black Star Gnosis/Dark Descent Records/2023 Full Length Review

 

  Demoncy  are  a  band  from the  United  States  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  goes  for  an  old  school,  satanic  and  occult  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2023  album  "Black  Star  Gnosis"  which  will  be  released  in  December  by  Dark  Descent  Records.

  Ritualistic  synths  and  demonic  voices  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw musical  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast beats.  Vocals  are mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  sounding  black  metal  screams  and  dark  sounding  melodies  are  also  added  into  a  lot  of the  guitar  riffing. 

  A  lot  of  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  era  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Some  of  the  riffing  also  shows  influences  of  death  along  with  some  touches  of  doom  metal  in  the  slower  sections  of  the  tracks  as  well  as  the  synths  also  making  a  return  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording.

  On  this  recording  Demoncy  brings  in  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  satanic  and  occult  sounding  in  the  early  90's  tradition  as  well  as  keeping  the  same  aggression  the  band  has  had  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and r aw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Occultism,  Left  Hand  Path,  Darkness  and  Unholy  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Demoncy  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  old  school,  satanic  and  occult  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Black  Star  Gnosis"  "De  Mysterium  Noctis"  and  "Cosmic  Curse  Expulsion".  8/5  out  of  10.

Demoncy/Faustian Dawn/So It Is Done Prod/Damnation/1993 CD Review

  Demoncy  are  a  band  that  was  originally  from  Atlanta,  Georgia  that  played  a  very  atmospheric  form  of  raw  and  primitive  satanic  occult/black  metal  with  this  recording  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  1993  album  "Faustian  Dawn"  which  was  released  as  a  joint  effort  between  So  It  Is  Prod  and  Damnation.

  Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  thrown  into  the  music  at  times,  while  the  keyboards  bring  a  very  evil,occult,  ritualistic and  atmospheric  sound  to  the  music,  as  for  the  bass  playing  it  has  a  very  dark  tone  with riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  is  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

  Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  black  metal  riffs  that  are  very  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sounding  with  a  good  amount  of  death  metal  influences  being  thrown  into  the  riffing  as  well  as  some  dark  sounding  melodies  in  addition  there  is  a  brief  use  of  clean  playing  being  utilized  on  one  song  and  there  are  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on  this  recording.

  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  with  some  demonic  sounding  whispers  being  thrown  into  the  music  at  times  as  well  as  some  deep  black/death  metal  growls,  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,Darkness,  Rituals  and    Anti  Christianity,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sound  to  it.

  In  my  opinion  this  was  a  great  album  from  Demoncy  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric,  raw  and  primitive  satanic/occult  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Satanic  Psalms"Denial  Of  The  Holy  Paradise"  Fullmoon  Twilight"  and  "Impure  Blessings(Dark  Angel  Of  The  Four  Wings)"  which  is  a  bonus  track.  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
