Daysidied Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording and release of the new ep?

1.After the release of our latest work, we started to think about promoting it. We are just a studio project, for now, so we try our best on online promotion.

We are planning to release an official video, beside the lyric video of "Witness of the End" and a couple of visualizer.

And of course, we already started to work on new material.

2.Recently you have released a new ep, musically how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

2.I think that "The Day the World Died" is at the same time more fast and more atmospheric than "I Shall Destroy You". We've finally found our true essence, a mix of raw black metal, depressive atmospheres and a bit of black 'n' roll.

3.All of the band members play in other bands and also have experience playing other styles of metal, how would you compare the black metal stuff with 'Daysidied' to the other genres of metal you have experience playing?

3.I think black metal is the most wicked genre, the best way to express our hate for god and for the human race. We needed to express our  extreme and dark side, so Daysidied were born.

Death metal may be more powerful, but nothing is evil like black metal.

4.A lot of your lyrics cover anti Christianity themes, can you tell us a little bit more about your hatred for this religion?

4.Actually we hate any kind of religion, for us Satan is a symbol, the enemy of any god, we don't care if Christian, Jewish, Muslim or something else.

5.What are some of the other lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored so far with the music?

5.Death, sorrow, solitude and desperation are other topics of our lyrics: I had a very realistic nightmare about the end of the world, before the songwriting of the EP, so I wanted to call it "The Day the World Died".

6.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new ep cover?

6.The artwork represents the members of a sort of end-of-the-world cult about to celebrate their last rite before the death of the sun and the consequent end of everything.

7.Has the band done any live shows or open to the idea?

7.We are born as studio project, we never played live, for now. But never say never!

8.The new ep was released on 'Thy Bare Tree', can you tell us a little bit more about this label?

8.Thy Bare Tree is a division of AUSR Digital, they are our digital distribution since the beginning.

9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?

9.We had many positive reactions from the listeners, for now, actually more than we expected. We write songs for ourselves, we need to do it to exorcise our inner demons and we don't care if we are popular or not, but positive reactions are always welcome!

10.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?

10.We try to carry on all our projects and bands in parallel.  With some of them we have upcoming releases, with others we are planning concerts.

11.When can we expect a full length and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

11.For now we are planning two more EPs and a split with another Italian black metal band, I can't say when we'll release a full- length.

About our musical direction, I think we'll continue to play raw for a long time!

12.What are some of the bands or musical styles the band members are currently listening to nowadays?

12.I am a huge black metal fan, but I love also gothic metal, like Sentenced or Paradise Lost, and some death metal (especially the Swedish one). Ironcross (guitars, drum programming) likes many different genres and Pizzu (bass) is a gothic/doom metal fan.

13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

13.We would like to thank you for the interview, it's very important for an underground band to have the chance to talk about its music!

To the readers: support underground metal, there are many bands that deserve to be listened!

Daysidied/The Day The World Died/The Bare Tree/2023 EP Review

Daysidied  are  a  band  from  Italy  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  old  school  form  of  black  metal  with  elements  of  black'n'roll  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  203  ep  "The  Day  The  World  Died"  which  was  released  by  The  Bare  tree.

A  very  fast  and r aw  sound  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.  Most  of  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in t h e 90's  Nordic  second  wave  style  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in   a very  melodic  style  along  with  the  music  also  having  its  apocalyptic   moments  and  elements  of  black'n'roll  can  also  be  heard  in  the  mid  tempo  sections  of  the  songs  at  times.

All    of  the  drum  beats are  also  programmed  along  with  the  guitar  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  when  they  are  utilized  and  all  of  the  music  also  sticks  to  a  heavier  direction,  growls  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  clear  vocals  are  also  added  on t he  closing  track.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  anti  religion,  death  and  sorrow  themes.

In  my  opinion  Daysidied  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  old  school  black  metal  band  with  elements  of  black'n'roll  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Ghost"  and  "Witness  To  the  End".  8  out  of  10.
