Moon Oracle/Ophidian Glare/Signal Rex/Bestial Burst/2023 Full Length Review

 

  Moon  Oracle  are  a  band  from  Finland  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  an  archaic  and  eldritch  mixture  of  black  and  doom  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2023  album  "Ophidian  Glare"  which  will  be  released  in  April  as  a  joint  effort  between  Signal  Rex  and  Bestial  Burst.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  sounding  black  emtal  screams  while t he  songs  also  add  in  a a  lot  of  old  school  influences  and  the  slower  sections  of t he  songs  also b ring  in  elements  of  doom  metal.

  Dark  sounding  melodies  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  riffing  while  synths  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording.  The  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with   a  couple  of  track s also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  spoken  words  as  well  as  the  solos  and  leads  also  sticking  to  more  of  an  old  school  style  when  they  are utilized,  the  closing  track  is  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  also  adds  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing.

  On  this  recording  Moon  oracle  remain to  the  archaic  and  eldritch  mixture  of  black  and  doom  metal  that  they  have  established  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  the  battleground  between  the  Id  and  the  Ego.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Moon  oracle  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black  and  doom  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Numinous  Gate  Opens"  and  "Abysmal  Crimson  Desert".  8  out  of  10.

Moon Oracle/Muse Of The Nightside/Signal Rex/Bestial Burst/2021 CD Review

 

  Moon  Oracle  are  a  band  from  Finland  that  plays  an  archaic  and  eldritch  mixture  of  black  and  doom  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2021  album  Muse  Of  The  Nightside"  which  will  be  released  in  August  as  a  joint  effort  between  Signal  Rex  and  Bestial  Burst.

  A  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts off  the  album  while  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  along  with  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  and  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  riffing.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  tremolo  picking  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  when  they  are  utilized.  Elements  of  doom  metal  are  also  added  into  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  and  the  music  also  captures  the  rawness  of  the  classic  Finnish  era.

  A  later  track  also  adding  in  a brief  use  of  psychedelic  soundscapes  before  returning  back  to  a  heavier  direction  as  well  as  the  clean  sections  also  bringing  in  a  horror  movie  style atmosphere  when  it  is  utilized,  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  the  battleground  between  the  Id  and  The  Ego.

  In  my  opinion  Moon  Oracle  are  a  very  great  sounding  archaic  and  eldritch  mixture  of  black  and  doom  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Huntress  And  The  Hunted"  and  "The  10th  Hour".  8  out  of  10.
