Goddess/The Divine Promise/Life As A Dream Records/2020 Full Length Review

  Goddess  are  a  solo  project  from  Serbia  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  plays  a  very  raw  and melodic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2020  album  "The  Divine  Promise"  which  will  be  released  by  Life  As  A  Dream  Records.

  A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats. Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  lot  of  melody  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  synths  can  also  be  heard  in  the  background  briefly.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  raw  yet  melodic  style  as  well  as  one  of  the  tracks  also  introducing  clean  playing  onto  the  recording,  tremolo  picking  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  faster  riffing  and  as  the  album  progresses  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard,

  On  this  recording  Goddess  takes  his  raw  style  of  black  metal  into  more  of  a  melodic  musical  direction.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  stewardship,  collective  responsibility,  animal  rights,  environmental  disaster,  and  the  coming  supreme  retribution.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Goddess  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  melodic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Burden  of  Obligation"  "Deaths  Companions"  and  The  Divine  Promise".  8  out  of  10.

Goddess/Raped Into Being/Medusa Crush Recordings/2018 EP Review

  Goddess  are  a  solo  project  from  Serbia  that  plays  a  very  raw  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2018  ep  "Raped  Into  Being"  which  will  be  released  in  November  by  Medusa  Crush  Recordings.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  musical  sound  sound  starts  off  the  ep  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  while  the  vocals a re  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal screams  as  well  as  the  solos  and  leads  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  and  the  music  brings  in  both  modern  and  old  school  influences.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  riffs  only  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  melody as  well  as  one  track  also  adding  in a  brief  use  of  clean  playing.

  Goddess  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  raw  and  traditional  sounding,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  animal  rights,  environmental  stewardship  and  ancient  mythology  revolving  around  the  goddess  Poine.

  In  my  opinion  Goddess  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw black  emtal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Raped  into  Being" and  "Poine".  8 out  of  10.
