Khaos Aeon Interview

Interview Occult Black Metal Zine
1. Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?

KHAOS AEON // G:
At the moment Khaos Aeon is mostly rehearsing and recording. A couple of rituals are to follow during December and the beginning of the next year as the last months were rather quiet when it came to concerts. We are starving regarding entering the stage again so expect some energies flowing around ...

2. The new album has been out for almost a year now, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical direction for those that have never heard the album and also how does it differ from previous efforts?

KHAOS AEON // G:
The latest output namely "Koenigreich" is an album that covers and reveals almost every aspect of Khaos Aeon as it was at the time of its creation. Influences are to be found not as easily as on previous releases since we made a big step both musically and lyrically, focusing more on inner aspects and cloistering ourselves more from outer sources. It is more straight forward bearing also a lot of tight atmosphere - without getting to sophisticated. What you here on "Koenigreich" is Khaos Aeon; and nothing else.

The lyrical topics cover a lot of Occult and Luciferian topics, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in the Occult and Left Hand Path?

KHAOS AEON // G:
The Occult, as you name it, is something that everybody has to explore by himself; and something that you can find only within yourself. Focus and do not get infiltrated from outer sources. It is as easy as that.
None of our "topics" are to be explained from my side as I am still studying them by myself.

What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name Khaos Aeon?

KHAOS AEON // G:
When it comes to chaos; see it as a mighty source from the most inner point of yourself. It is a chaotic trip full of throwbacks delving towards it. But it gets more addictive as faster as you travel ... And every step you make feeds your hunger of becoming one with it.
As an aeon is a rather limited period of time, chaos acts as a constant that was, is and will be from the very beginning to the very end. If you want to take it as "life", for you can take chaos as "death". So to begin from death, dwelling in life and return to death; this is what we endure. And this is what has to be transcended. "Aeon" is the task while "Khaos" is its goal.

I have read one of the band members travelled to Egypt not too long ago, do you feel that the Muslims steal their whole occult and pagan heritage?

KHAOS AEON // G:
Couldn't care less what Muslims do with their heritage. This is none of my concern.

What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and how would you describe your stage performance?

KHAOS AEON // G:
Everyone; for the real performance is in our every self. So join us, open yourself and let some hell break loose ...

Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?

KHAOS AEON // G:
As stated before we are going to play one gig in December of this year as a conclusion for a rather quiet year regarding live performances. We are hungry for 2014, so stay tuned.

Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?

KHAOS AEON // G:
No; and I am personally not interested in any label.
Would be nice of course to have a cooperation but we are hunting perfectly without any. So if there is no interest it is no barrier for Khaos Aeon.

On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal?

KHAOS AEON // G:
How do you define something like that?
We got response from a lot of people we respect - so in our world: a very good response.

10. Are any of the band members involved with other musical projects these days?

KHAOS AEON // G:
Not anymore.

11. What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?

KHAOS AEON // G:
Musically I really do not know as I am without any limitation when it comes to music. So be curious ...

12. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

KHAOS AEON // G:
For me personally I am listening to almost every style of music (with some exceptions of course). So if there is an influence It would take some time to find every single one.

13. Outside of music what are some of your interests?

KHAOS AEON // G:
Evolving mainly.

14. Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?

Khaos Aeon/Koenigreich/2013 CD Review

Khaos  Aeon  are  a  band  from  Germany  that  plays  an  occult  form  of  black  metal  along  with  some  death  metal  elements  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2013  album  "Koengreich".

"Death"  which  is  also  the  first  song  on  the  album  opens  up  with  some  avant  garde sound  effects  before  adding  in  some  heavy  and  melodic  guitar  riffs  along  with  some  drums  and  a  few  seconds  later  guitar  solos  come in  briefly  before  adding  in  some  grim  sounding   high  pitched  black  metal  screams  along  with  some  spoken  word  parts  and  evil  sounding  clean  singing  and  you  can  also  heat  some  bass  guitars  in  the  background  and  as  the  song  gets  closer  to  the  end  guitar  solos  and  leads  return  in  certain  sections.

"Pyre"  starts  up  with  some  fast  and  melodic  old  school  black  metal  guitar  and  bass  riffs  along  with  some  drums  and  blast  beats  before  slowing  down  and  adding  in  grim  vocals  along  with  some  guitar  leads  and  then  going  into  a  more  mid  paced  direction  and  as  the  song  moves  on  death  metal  growls  are  added  in  and  then  the  song  goes  back  to  a  more  raw  and  fast  direction  for  a  few  seconds  and  then  going  into  another  guitar  lead  and  towards  the  end  there  is  a  brief  use  of  melodic  vocals..

"Night"  opens  up  with  some  sound  effects  before  adding  in  melodic  guitar  riffs  and  drums  which  then  lead  to  grim  black  metal  vocals  and  a  brief  use  of  blast  beats  and  as  the  song  moves  on  guitar  solos  and  leads  start  coming  in  and  out  which  also  lead  to  some  melodic  vocals  and  towards  the  end  sound  effects  make  a  return  briefly  while  also  keeping  around  guitar  leads  before  getting  heavy  again  and  you  can  hear some  bass in  the  background.

"Koenigreich"  which is  also the  title  track  opens  up with  ritualistic  sounds  and  a  minute  later  heavy  and  melodic  guitar  and  bass  riffs  come  in  along  with  some  drums  and  black  metal  vocals  before  going into  faster riffing  and  blast  beats  and  then  alternating  between  mid  paced  and  fast  sections  and  as  the  song  moves  on  there is  a  brief  use  of  guitar  leads  being  utilized  along  with  a  small  amount  of  growls.

"Setech"  begins  with  occult  and  avant  garde sounds  and  a  few  seconds  alter  heavy  and  melodic  guitars  along  with  drums  and  black  metal  screams  kick  in  and  a  few  seconds  alter  melodic  guitar  leads  are  added  to  certain  sections  of  the  song  and  towards  the end  you  can  hear  a  small  amount  of  melodic  vocals  for  a  couple  of  seconds.

"Blood" comes  in  with  angry  shouts  before  fast  black  metal  guitar  riffs  and  drums  kick  in   and  a  few  seconds  later  it  slows  down  adds in  melody,  bass  guitars  and  screams  and  then  mostly  sticking  to  a  more  mid  paced  direction  but  also  speeding  up  at  times,  halfway  through  the  song  there  is  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts  as  well  as  clean  singing  and  then  the  song  adds in  some  clean  guitars  before  getting  heavy  again.

"Khaon" makes  it  way  in  with  clean  guitar  playing  as  well  as  sound  effects  and  a  few  seconds  later  heavy  guitars  and  drums  start  to  kick  in  along  with  some  solos  and  leads  which  also  leads  to  some  black  metal  screams  and  growls  before  speeding  up  along  with  fast  bass  guitars  as  well  as  mixing  in  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  sections  and  towards  the  end  there  is  a  brief  use  of  guitar  effects  being  utilized.

"Life'  which  is  also  the  last  song  on  the  album  opens  up  with  some  heavy  and  melodic  guitar  riffs  along  with  drums  and  a  few  seconds  later  black  metal  vocals  hit  in  and  a  minute  later t here  is  a  brief  use  of  clean  guitar  which  also  leads  up  to  some  solos.

Song  lyrics  cover  Esoteric,  Occultism,  Ancient  Forces  and  Luciferian  themes,  while  the  production h as  a  very  strong,  powerful  and  heavy  sound  where  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording.

In  my  opinion  Khaos  Aeon  are  a  very  great  sounding  occult  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre  you  should  check  out  this  album. RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Death"  "Koenigreich"  and  "Khaon".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
