  Nuclearhammer  are  a  duo from  Toronto,,  Ontario,  Canada  that  plays  a  bestial  mixture  of  war,  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2026  ep  "Xaos  333"  which  will  be  released  in  September  by  Iron  Bonehead  Productions.

  Dark  soundscapes  start  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  brutal  war  metal  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  a  mixture  of  bestial  growls  and  black  metal  screams  while  one  of  the  tracks  is  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length,  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.

  At  times  the  music  also  captures  an  ethereal  atmosphere  while  the  ep  also  adds  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  When  tremolo  picking  is  added  into  the  fast  riffing  they  also  give  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling  and  the  recording  is  heavily  rooted  in  the  old  school  war  metal  style.

  NUclearhammer  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  the  war  and  bestial  style  of  black/death  metal  into  a  very  brutal  and  aggressive  direction.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism  and  Alchemy  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Nuclearhammer  are  a  very  great  sounding  bestial  mixture  of  war,  black  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  duo.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Mother  of  Poisons".  8  out  of  10.

Azatoth Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?

All of the members have other projects, that we have been focusing on during this year. Now with the album out, we’re definitey gonna bring it to the stages in as many places as we can….

2.In 2023 you had released your first EP, musically how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

If we compare our 2023 EP Ungodly Carnage to Carnal Lust Of Blasphemy, there’s definietly a step up in production, song structures and the overall feel of the songs. We also tuned down to B from C. 

3.A lot of your lyrics are inspired by classic horror movies, which films have had the most influence on your songwriting?

Definitely Hellraiser and Braindead/Dead Alive. Hellraiser movies have this unique depiction of Hell that we took inspiration from, to make it a bit different than it usually is depicted. Braindead/Dead Alive has this goofy vibe that doesent take itself too seriously. DEATH METAL is serious bussines, but when you go over the top with the themes etc. you need to have a little bit of humour in it.

4.I know that the bands name is inspired by the writings of H.P Lovecraft, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in his works?

While the name is a direct reference to Lovecraft's work, we don't take that much influence from them. Only the concept of something being so grotesque, that it can't be comprehended and it might harm the human mind is what stuck with us.

5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the full length cover?

It’s done by the mighty Slimeweaver. Go check out his works. We had this clear vision, of a cathedral rising from a fleshy and cavernous cave, that's supposed to be our version of Hell. Slimeweaver perfected this vision to the canvas. I think the artwork fits the music perfectly!

6.Has the band done any live shows or open to the idea?

Yes. We have played shows all over Finland. One in Sweden at Öland Rots, one in Poland at Death is not the End and one in Denmark at Extremely Rotten Death Fest. We definitely want to go all over the world. When the situation cools in the States, we’ll definietly head over there as well… Brazil and South America is something we’d 100% want to conquer and experience in the future. 

7.On the new album you also have a few guests, can you tell us a little bit more about who they are and their contributions to the recording?

Almost all of Malformed is featuring on our album. We’re good friends behind the scenes, and we wanted them to leave a mark on our 1st full length. Akseli and Eetu from Malformed played killer solos for us. Eetu did the 2nd solo on Putrid Altar Of Eternal Decay, and it rips… Akseli did it in Abomination of the Underworld, and actually wrote a few riffs for that song before leaving Azatoth. Jerry from Baron and Eyes Sewn Shut delivered a killer solo for Extinguished Souls of Putridity. When it comes to vocals, we wanted Disguised Malignance’s Felix to do some LG Petrov style screams of agony for Blasphemous Flesh, and Pauli from Malformed delivered a chilling dialogue as Satan himself for the slow part of Putrid Altar Of Eternal Decay. All of these people are good friends of ours, and we wanted to have their contribution for Carnal Lust Of Blasphemy.

8.The physical version was released on 'Extremely Rotten Records', how did you get n contact with this label?

We’ve been fans of Undergang for a long time. When we discovered Extremely Rotten, we knew that, it was something we wanted to be apart of. David has this vision for death metal that we agree with heavily. That’s why we chose to contact E.R.P.

9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of underground6 metal?

From where we stand, it looks like the response has been great all over this shithole of a planet. We’re eternally grateful for that.

10.Where do you see the band heading musically in the future?

It’s hard to say. Only time will tell what depths the riffs come from next time.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles the band members are currently listening to nowadays?

A lot of different styles of music. It’s impossible to pinpoint one because all of us have a completely different taste in music. Music is such a vast form of art, that if you limit yourself to only few genres, you’ll never get the full experience. but if i had to choose a few… I’d say brutal death, black metal, grind, post electronic and maybe even some jazz fusion.

Ch'ahom/Anthropic Rites Of Sublimation/20 Buck Spin/2026 Full Length Review

  Germany's  Ch'ahom  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  bestial,  cavernous  and  progressive  mixture  of  war,  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2026  album  "Anthropic  Rites  Of  Sublimation"  which  will  be  released  in  September  by  20  Buck  Spin.

  A  very  ritualistic  and  tribal  orientated  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  also  adding  in  some  percussion  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking,  blast  beats  and  war  metal  elements  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Vocals  are  a  mixture  of  black  metal  screams,  cavernous  and  bestial  growls  while  the  album  also  gets  very  progressive  sounding  at  times.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  recording  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts,  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in a  very  chaotic  style  and  the  closing  track  is  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  also  adds  in  a  brief  use  of  clean  playing.

  On  this  recording  Ch'ahom  brings  out  a  very  ritualistic,  progressive,  cavernous  and  bestial  mixture  of  war,  black  and  death  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  are  a  concept  album  set  in a  fictional  world  inspired  by  the  art,  architecture  and  rituals  of  the  pre-Hispanic  cultures.   

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Ch'ahom  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  ritualistic  and  progressive  war,  black  and  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  his  recording.  ECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Cult  Of  Xamon"  and  "Insemination".  8  out  of  10.

  Blood  Artillery  are  a  solo  project  from  Italy  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  goes  for  a  mixture  of  war,  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2026  album  "Anti-Human  Militarism"  which  will  be  released  in  September  by  Extreme  Chaos.

  The  sounds  of  war  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  brutal  blast  beats,  tremolo  picking  and  war  metal  elements  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  bestial  growls  with  a  few  black  emtal  screams.

  Dark  sounding  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  album  also  adds  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  chaotic  style  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  ep  between  Italy's  Vodun  and  Urugauy's  JPI  Vio-Lens  Kommand  called  "Messa  Nera"  which  will  be  released  in  August  as  a  joint  effort  between  Extreme  Chaos,  MWN!  Productions  and  Deathrash  Armageddon  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Vodun  a  duo  that  plays  a  mixture  of  war,  black,  death  metal  and  noise.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  fast  and  raw  war  metal  style  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  a  mixture  of  bestial  growls  and  black  metal  screams  while  the  music  captures  a  very  lo-fi  atmosphere  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

 Elements  of  noise  can  also  be  heard  at  times  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast parts  as  well  as  one  track  also  adding  in  some  ritualistic  percussion.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  voodoo  rituals  and  esoteric  practives.

  Next  up  is  JPI  Vio-Lens  Kommand  a  solo  project  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black,  death  and  thrash  metal.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  fast  and  raw  sound  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  the  music  also  adds  in  elements  of  death  and  thrash  metal  and  also  mixes  the  80's  and  90's  era  together.

  Dark  sounding  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  a  great  portion  of  the  tracks  also  being  very  short  in  length  and  one  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts,  voodoo  style  chants  and  percussion  are  also  added  towards  the  end.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Spanish  cover  death,  surrealism  and  esotericism  themes.

  Baphometic  Deathslaught  where  an  international  duo  with  members  from  Poland  and  the  United  States  that  plays  a  very  satanic  mixture  of  war,  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  and  self  titled  2017  ep.

  Synths  and  fire  burning  start  off  the  demo  along  with  some  grim  ritualistic  chants  a  few  seconds  later  before  going  into  a  very  fast,  raw  and  brutal  war  metal  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal s creams  and  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  old  school  era.

  Ethnic  style  folk  instruments  and  spoken  words  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  and  war  metal  elements.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Throughout  the  album  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  vocals  also  add  in  a  mixture  of  black  metal  screams  and  bestial  death  metal  growls.  Dissonant  style  melodies  are  also  utilized  at  times  and  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  chaotic  style.

  Touches  of  grindcore  are  also  added  into  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  along  with  the  album  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  When  tremolo  picking  is  added  into  the  fast  riffing  they  also  give  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling  and  some  tracks  also  add  in  a  small  amount  of  noises,  percussion  is  also  added  towards  the  end.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Metaphysics,  Ontology,,  Vedic  and  Theosophy  themes.

Incinitor Interview

 

1. For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the solo project?

There isn't much to tell about this solo project. At its core, it's simply about creating provocation through noise and spreading intimidation and chaos through music.

 

2. So far you have released an EP. Can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style that you went for on the recording?

Black Invocation Conquest was created as a first step to establish my presence in underground music. The EP was recorded gradually over the course of two months after the material had been prepared. The recording process was far from grand or luxurious. It relied on old amplifiers, basic effects, some software editing, and a bit of assistance from a friend. Because the recording was done in different stages and without a strict structure, the final result ended up sounding unstable at times, with fluctuating drum and guitar tones. But honestly, to hell with that. The original goal was always to create music that sounds chaotic, aggressive, and intimidating. Throughout the EP, that chaos can be heard clearly from the inconsistent sound levels to the mistakes in the drum tracks. This release was never meant for people looking for a polished and carefully crafted production. It's all about relentless blows, chaotic riffs, and overwhelming noise.

 

3. What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects you have explored so far with the music?

The lyrical themes revolve around misanthropy, occultism, death, and resistance. Most of the inspiration comes from what I see, experience, and feel in my own life.

 

4. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name "Incinitor"?

The project was originally called Inicied Noise Executor. Personally, I wasn't a fan of such a long name, so I shortened it and eventually it became Incinitor.

 

5. Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the EP cover?

The cover artwork was taken from the painting Purgatory by Cristóbal Rojas. Its meaning is quite profound because it doesn't only depict the concept of purgatory in Catholic teachings, but also serves as a reflection on human suffering and death. The painting was the last work he completed before dying of tuberculosis in 1890. We chose this artwork because it felt very relevant and accurately reflects the atmosphere and spirit of this EP.

 

6. With this project you record everything by yourself, are you open to working with other musicians or do you prefer to work solo? Yes, there will definitely be collaborations with other musicians in the future because I plan to bring this project to the live stage, hopefully by the end of this year. I just hope I find enough motivation within myself to finally perform these songs live.

 

7. Currently you are unsigned. Are you looking for a label or have you received any interest?

I believe physical releases are still very important, so I am completely open to working with any label that is interested in releasing this material in a physical format.

 

8. On a worldwide level, how has the reaction been to your music by fans of war and bestial black/death metal?

The response has been quite positive so far. Before the digital release, I created an Instagram account and started posting updates about the EP. I also connected with friends and people I knew within the underground scene, and from there the project slowly started gaining attention.

 

9. When can we expect a full-length, and where do you see yourself heading as a musician in the future?

The full-length album is already scheduled for release at the end of next year. Like the EP, it will be recorded gradually, but this time there will be some changes in the recording approach to achieve a more professional result. That being said, I have no intention of abandoning the raw identity and chaotic riffing that define this project.

 

10. What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music, and what are you listening to nowadays?

It almost feels illegal to play bestial black/death metal without mentioning Blasphemy as an influence. Personally, though, I draw inspiration from both black metal and death metal in general. Some of the albums that heavily influenced this project include War.Cult.Supremacy by Conqueror, Upheaval of Satanic Might by Black Witchery, Seven Chalices by Teitanblood, Vengeance War 'Till Death by Bestial Warlust, Angelcunt (Tales of Desecration) by Archgoat, Messiah of Darkness and Impurity by Proclamation and Drawing Down the Moon by Beherit.

11. Does Occultism play any role in your music?

Absolutely. I see occultism as a path toward spiritual enlightenment and a way of exploring the hidden knowledge of the universe. It serves as an important foundation for many of the lyrics I write. It is also a subject that remains mysterious and highly debated, which makes it even more fascinating to explore through music.

 

12. Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

First of all, thank you for taking the time to interview me, for listening to Black Invocation Conquest, and for giving your honest thoughts on the release. Recently, I came across a webzine that reviewed the EP, and do you know what they concluded? They claimed that this project was AI-generated. I found that both ridiculous and amusing at the same time. I don't really know how to explain every detail of the process or convince people that this chaos was created by dirty human hands rather than a machine. Then again, I don't think it's important to explain every aspect of how this EP was made. Still, since that damned webzine questioned the authenticity of the release, it actually delayed my response to this interview because I couldn't stop thinking about it.   Incinitor  are  a  solo  project  from  Indonesia  that  plays  a  bestial  mixture  of  war,  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  2026  ep  "Black  Invocation  Conquest".

  A  very  dark  ritualistic  sounding  intro  starts  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  very  fast,  raw  and  brutal  war  metal  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats.  Vocals  are  a  mixture  of  black  metal  screams  and  bestial  growls  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Most  of  the  tracks  stick  to  the  2  minute  limit  while  all  of  the  riffing  is  also  done  on  power  chords.  All  of  the  songs  also  avoid  the  use  of any  melodies  are  guitar  leads  to  focus  on  a  heavier  direction  and  most  of  the  tracks  stick  to  a  faster  style.

  Inconitor  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  war,  bestial  death  and  black  metal  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  his  own.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness,  mystery,  inner  power  and  spiritual  intensity.    

  In  my  opinion  Incinitir  is  a  very  great  sounding  bestial  mixture  of  war,  black  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  solo  project.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Serpent  Fire  Dominion"  and  "Chaos  Through  Eternal  Desecration".  8  out  of  10.

  Russia's  Thanatomass  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  mixture  of  war,  black,  death  and  thrash  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2026  ep  "The  Rabid  Dead"  which  will  be  released  in  August  by  Nomad  Snakepit  Productions.

  Drum  beats  start  off  the  ep  along  with  some  heavier  riffing  a  few  seconds  later  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  lot  of  tremolo  picking,  brutal  blast b eats  and  war  metal  elements  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  bestial  growls.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  chaotic  style  while  black  metal  screams  are  also  used  at  times.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  most  of  the  tracks  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  some  of  the  riffing  also  shows  an  influence  of  thrash  metal,  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  spoken  words  are  also  added  towards  the  end.

  On  this  recording  Thanatomass  takes  the  most  aggressive  and  brutal  sides  of  war,  black,  death  and  thrash  metal  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  very  heavy  recording.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Thanatomass  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  war,  black,  death  and  thrash  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "The  Rabid  Dead".  8 out  of  10.

  Portland,  Oregon's  Diabolic  Oath  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  psychedelic  and  bestial  mixture  of  war,  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2026  ep  "Unholy  Barbaric  Hymns"  which  will  be  released  in  June  by  Sentient  Ruin  Laboratories.

  Apocalyptic  soundscapes  start  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  very  fast,  raw  and  brutal  war  metal  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  a  mixture  of high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  bestial  growls  while  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Diabolic  Oath  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  war  and  bestial  black/death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Emblazoned  Upon  Ebony  Winds"  and  "Vomiting  Flames  in  Rapturous  Conflagration".   8  out  of  10.

Molosser Interview

 1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

 

We are a death metal band from the bottom of the world in Wellington, New Zealand.

 

2.You have an ep coming out in May, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style that you went for on the recording?

 

For this EP, we aimed for a base of primitive, violent death metal with elements of black and doom sprinkled throughout. These were the first songs we had written together as a band, they were subject to a few rewrites here and there to expand upon the black/death/doom elements.

 

All the recordings for the EP were captured by our guitarist (now drummer) J.A. and we sought out the expertise of Dan Lowndes of Resonance Sound Studio for the mix and master. It was a brilliant experience working together with Dan on this release and he was able to really emphasise on the thick, crushing guitar tone, pummelling drums, and cavernous vocals.

 

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects you have explored so far with the music?

 

Lyrically the EP mostly explores war and conflict, most notably the Khmer genocide in “Strychnine Hill” and ongoing persecutions/killings in Myanmar in “Ogre Column”. 

 

“Vengeance Manifest” was loosely inspired by the Gombe Chimpanzee War and revenge fantasies, and “Indomitable Force” found inspiration in various depictions of absolute power and strength (notably Nosferatu Zodd from Berserk).

 

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Molosser'?

 

“Molosser” is a term used to describe large muscular dogs (usually mastiffs) commonly used as guard dogs or for livestock protection. I always thought it would be a very fitting name for a death metal band and here we are, haha.

 

5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the ep cover?

 

The cover artwork for Massive Retaliation’s Arms of the War God had always stuck with me after I had first seen it, large scale battle scenes work so well as cover artwork in this subgenre. When it came time to prepare the cover artwork for the EP, naturally we reached out to the artist for that piece, Adam Kindred (@archaicfilth on Instagram).

 

We provided a few reference images and lyrics for inspiration, and he had a brilliant idea straight off the bat (which was basically the final piece you can see now) that evoked the exact atmosphere we were seeking, which was just pure staunch and puissance.

 

He was an absolute dream to work with, he also drew a dog crest/sigil which you can see as the alternative front cover for the EP on our cassette release (and in the CD insert).

 

6.Has the band done any live shows or open to the idea?

 

We have played a number of live shows with both local and international acts, most notably playing shows alongside Dead Congregation, Concrete Winds, Bölzer and Faceless Burial.

 

7.The ep was released on 'Gutter Prince Cabal', how did you get in contact with this label?

 

After we received the final mix and master for the release, we were planning out our next steps for release and distribution. We had heard only great things about Gutter Prince Cabal as a label from friends who have had music released through them, so we reached out via a demo submission. They enjoyed what they heard and N.H. from Heresiarch also put in a good word for us to the label. They offered to help release our EP through them which we gladly accepted.

 

Gutter Prince Cabal have been excellent to work with through every step of the process and we are proud to have our debut release under their banner.

 

8.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of extreme metal?

 

Reception for our single “Strychnine Hill” has been positive so far, but more so on a local scale. We will see what transpires soon.

 

9.Do any of the band members have any experience playing in other bands or musical projects?

 

We currently have members also playing in Brainwave, Stress Ghetto, Heresiarch and Birdparty.

 

Our previous drummer A.M. (who’s performance you can hear on the record) also has some stuff in the works so keep an ear out for that.

 

10.When can we expect a full length and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

 

We are currently in the midst of writing new material for a full-length, no timeline on that one but hopefully sooner rather than later. 

 

With our new material we are aiming to expand further on the violence. Essentially just make the fast parts faster and the slower parts slower. Crush, kill, destroy.

 

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

 

We have mainly been inspired by bands such as Morbid Angel, Incantation and Pissgrave for our current material, while also finding inspiration in black metal and death/doom.

 

For our future material we have been primarily been looking to black/death acts like Axis of Advance and Lvcifyre, and death/doom acts such as Rippikoulu and Mortiferum for inspiration. There will surely be more bands (both metal and non-metal) to add to this list as we go further into the writing process.

 

In terms of current listening, Dead Congregation and Axis of Advance have really been scratching the death metal itch for me lately. Outside of metal it’s been a lot of Nuovo Testamento and Westside Gunn.

  Vocals  are  a  mixture  of  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  bestial  growls  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  good  balance  between  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Most  of  the  riffing  is  also  done  on  power  chords  which  also  adds to  the  brutality  on  the  recording  along  with  the  interludes  also  adding  in  elements  of  ambient  before  returning  to  a  heavier  direction,  melodic  riffing  can   also  be  heard  briefly.

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  U.S.A's  Kommandant,  Norway's  Disiplin,  Italy's  Nova,  Waexaerg,  Wold  Axis  and  Gibur  called  "Promethean  Vanguard"  which  will  be  released  in  April  by  ATMF  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Disiplin  who  return  with  their  extreme  style  of  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  spoken  word  samples  before  going  into  a  very  fast,  raw  and  brutal  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  mostly  angry  sounding  black  metal  screams. 

  Both  of  their  tracks  are  also  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  as  well  as  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them,  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  war  and  hatred  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Disciplin  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  extreme  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Turbo  Sanguis".

  Next  up  is  Kommandant  who  return  with  their  fast  and  aggressive  style  of  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  while  both  of  their  tracks  are  also  long  and  epic  in  length.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  their  side  of  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Vocals  are  mostly  angry  sounding  black  metal  screams  mixed  in  with  some  death  metal  growls  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  The  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts,  some  of  the  riffing  also  adds  in  the  brutality  of  death  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  war,  death  and  hatred  themes.

  Next  up  is  Nova  who  return  with  their  epic  style  of  pagan  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  heavy  and  epic  sound  while  the  vocals  are  done  in  an  angry  black  metal  style  mixed  in  with  a  few  growls.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  along  with  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  which  also  gives  their  side  of  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  Throughout  their  side  of  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Spoken  words  and  folk  instruments  can  also  be  heard  briefly,  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  closing  track  also  adds  in  clean  playing,  synths  and  spoken  words.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  t e lyrics  are  written  in  Italian  and  cover  Esotericism  and  Elitism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Nova  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  epic  pagan  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Uova  del  Drago".

  Next  up  is  Wolf  Axis  a  band  that  plays  a  very  aggressive  form  of  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  spoken  word  samples  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  while  the  vocals  are  done  in  an  angry  black  metal  style.  Militant  beats  are  also  utilized  briefly.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  their  side  of  the  split  more  of  a  raw  feeling,  melodies  and  synths  are  also  used  briefly.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  and  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  violent  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Wolf  Axis  are  a  very  great  sounding  aggressive  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Paralysis  Of  Faith".

  Next  up  is  Waexerg  a  band  that  plays  an  industrial  style  of  blackened  warnoise.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  industrial  beats  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs.  Vocals  are  mostly  angry  sounding  black  metal  screams  mixed  in  with  a  few  bestial  growls  while  both  of  their  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.

  Spoken  words  and  synths  can  also  be  heard  at  times  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  album  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  their  side  of  the  split  more  of  a  raw  feeling,  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  War,  U.F.O's  and  Conspiracy  Theory  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Waexerg  are  a  very  great  sounding  industrial  blackened  warnoise  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Indoeuropean  Warnoise".   

  Closing  the  album  is  Gibur  a  solo  project  that  plays  an  occult  form  of  black  metal.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  synths,  programmed  beats  and  heavy  riffing  while  the  track  is  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  Spoken  words  are  also  used  at  times  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  some  melodies  and  the  track  sticks  to  a  mid  tempo  direction.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  and  the  lyrics  cover  Runes  and  Esotericism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Gibur  are  a  very  great  sounding  occult  black  emtal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  black  and  war  metal.  8  out  of  10.
