1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the solo project?
I am Pariah R a unique member of Patior Eugea and this project of the Black Metal musical genre is born from the need to make music with extreme sound, this musical scream is a dagger to pierce the heart of those emperors of folly, it is a poison to inoculate the bodies of the absurdity of politics, it is a bullet to the head of the senseless in the social and religious.
2.Recently you have released an ep, can you tell us a little bit more about the musical style that you went for on the recording?
In the recording of the songs for Patior Eugea I made the decision to make simple but forceful compositions, the use of Blast Beats in the drums is present in all the songs what is usual in Black Metal, and the riffs always keep the rawness with tremolo picking. The lyrics and vocals took more work to manage to keep the anger, hatred and aggressiveness in each song making an album a little more consistent lyrically/musically
3.A lot of your lyrics cover anti political and religion topics, can you tell us a little bit more about your songwriting?
All the lyrics cover those topics about the religious or political, but each lyric for this project is arguing a state of mind lived by me and those of us who live in Venezuela that is where we suffer the miserable action of a pusillanimous government that only pretends to equal us in poverty to all Venezuelans. This is contained in my social environment, but many other parts of the world suffer similar things and can identify with Patior Eugea's anti-systemic ideas.
4.I know that the bands name means 'being a victim of a mythological sacred prostitute', how does this name fit in with the musical style that you play?
This name has been thought to imply that in this country that I live I am under the cisrcunstances of a constant suffering that scourges my life by all possible means. But it's not just my case, it's the case of an entire country that is facing this criminal situation, we simply live here condemned to failure, we all suffer the same yoke. Venezuela has been prostituted, a rich country but that now its population is criminally impoverished. If you read between the lines you realize that Venezuela is the sacred prostitute and its people are the ones who feel the suffering.Thinking about that the name Patior Eugea was born.
5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the ep cover?
The cover was chosen from among others that I had the pleasure of looking for but the best interpretation was for the work Isle of the Dead (3rd version) by the Swiss painter Arnold Böcklin.
Here is my interpretation: There in that coffin they take Venezuela to finally rest in the Underworld, Charon represents the only good thing after death, total tranquility. The other being/spirit that you see there is the soul of a nation tired of so much mistreatment, simply wishing to get to the other side to put an end to the purulent unease that has lived for so long.
6.With this project you record everything by yourself, are you open to working with other musicians or do you prefer to work solo?
I'm always open to doing new things musically and more when it comes to Black Metal. I could very well make this project be integrated by more musicians, but for now this one has been born with me and I'm developing it as a single member to solidify the ideas and thus give shape to the essential core of Patior Eugea.
7.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?
I can get offers for a record label which would suit me quite well. All of us who make a musical genre always want our music to go further, and that's why a specialized music label is perfect. I don't have any at the moment.
8.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?
I can say that Patior Eugea has had a decent reception, and it's not that I have high expectations, but I think that over time it can go much further if I find some way to promote the project better.
9.Do you have any experience playing in other bands or musical projects?
I have previous experience in another Depressive Black Metal musical project, but now I'm focused on Patior Eugea.
10.Where do you see yourself heading into as a musician during the future?
I take what I do very seriously at a musical level, but I don't expect anything more than to reach the right audience with my music, to reach people who have an ear for this musical genre and to stand up whenever I can in Black Metal
11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
I could say that there are some bands that have influenced what I'm doing, maybe some people agree and others don't, it's controversial the issue of musical influences when you're going to dedicate yourself to making a specific musical genre. In my case bands like Mgła, Groza, Uada or Ygg are bands that have inspired me a bit to do my work in Black Metal, but there are also others that have a different sound that have somehow also influenced me like the depressive Black Metal bands Begotten or None the latter is currently split. Nowadays I listen to different musical styles, but I consume 70% Black Metal, I keep looking for new bands daily.
12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
I deeply appreciate the fact that you consider me for this interview, because in this way Patior Eugea will be able to reach new horizons. To say goodbye I'll just say: Long live Black Metal.
