Teufelsberg/Pakt mit dem Teufel/Signal Rex/2023 Full Length Review

 

  Poland's  Teufelsberg  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  an  old  school  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2023  album  "Pakt  mit  dem  Teufel"  which  will  be  released  on  Halloween  by  Signal  Rex.

  Dark  sounding  synths  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are mostly  tortured  yet  high  pitched  sounding sounding  black  metal  screams  while  most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic.

  Most  of  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  era  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  some  angry  sounding  spoken  word  parts  also  being  utilized  at  times  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  as  well  as  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  style  when  they  are  utilized..

  On  this  recording  Teufelsberg  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  old  school  in  the  90's  tradition.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  a  mixture  of  English  and  Polish  and  cover  Satanism,  Occultism,  Devil  Worship,  Death  and  Darkness  themes.

  In  my  opinion t his  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Teufelsberg  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  old  school,  occult  and  satanic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Der  Ruf  des  Mephistopheles"  and  "Wpiekłowstąpienie (In  Herrlichkeit  inmitten  der  Flammen)".  8 out  of  10.

Teufelsberg/Cienie/Under The Sign Of Garazel Productions/2023 EP Review

 

  Poland's  Teufelsberg  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  more  of  an  old  school  and  mid  tempo  style  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2023  ep  "Cienie"  which  will  be  released  in  April  by  Under  The  Sign  Of  Garazel  Productions.

  Rain  sounds  start  off  the  ep  while  synths  can  also  be  heard  in  the  background  briefly  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody.

  All  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  era.  Spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  on  a  couple  of  tracks  along  with  the  last  song  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  clean  laying,  synths  are  also  mixed  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  and  all  of  the  music  sticks  to  a  slow  or  mid  tempo  direction.

  On  this  recording  Teufelsbrg  takes  their  music  into  more  of  a  slower  and  mid  paced  black  metal  direction  as  well  as  adding  in  some  synths  to  create  something  different  from  their  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Polish  and  cover  Occultism,  Malancholy  and  Darkness  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Teufelsberg  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  mid  tempo  old  school  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Cmentarnych  kadzideł  woń".  8 out  of  10.

Teufelsberg/Ordre du Diable/Signal Rex/2022 CD Review

 

  Teufelsberg  are  a  band  from  Poland  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and   plays  an  old  school  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2022  album  "Ordre  du  Diable"  which  will  be  released  on  April  30th  by  Signal  Rex.

  Ritualistic  sounding  synths  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Most  of  the  music  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  style  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

  Some  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  as  the  album  progresses  synths  also  make  a  brief  return  on  a  couple  of  songs,  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly.

  On  this  recording  Teufelsberg  remain  true  to  the  old  school  style  of  black  metal  that  they  have  established  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Darkness  and  Occultism  themes. 

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Teufelsberg  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  old  school  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMRENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Malign  Incantation"  and  "In  The  Glare  Of  Funeral  Moon".  8  out  of  10.

Minnesjord/Teufelsberg/Signal Rex/2021 Split Album Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Portugal's  Minnesjord  and  Poland's  Teufelsberg  which  will  be  released  on  Halloween  by  Signal  Rex  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Minnesjord  a  raw  form  of  black  metal  with  some  touches  of  punk  and  deathrock.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  distorted  soundscapes  and  clean  playing  before  going  into  a  heavier  musical  direction.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in a   great  amount  of  blast  beats.

  When  tremolo  picking  is  utilized  kit  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling  along  with  the  music  also  mixing  in  elements  of  punk  and  deathrock.  The  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  as  well  as  some  guitar  leads  also  being  utilized  briefly,  the  vocals  also  have  their  depressive  moments.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Portuguese  and  cover  dark  themes. 

  In  my  opinion  Minnesjord  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  black  metal  band  with  elements  of  punk  and  deathrock  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out t heir  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Armigero"  and  "Mavorcio".

  Next  up  is  Teufelsberg  a  duo  that  plays  an  old  school  form  of  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  very  dark  sounding  intro  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  sues  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast beats.  Most  of  the  music  is  heavily  rooted  in t he  90's  era  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Dark  sounding  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism,  Darkness  and  Evil  themes.    

  In  my  opinion  Teufelsberg  are  a  very  great  sounding  old  school  black  metal  duo  and  if  you  ae  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Retaliation  Of  The  Evil  Ones".  8  out  of  10.
