Chamber Of Mirrors/Tales Of Blood/Iron Bonehead Productions/2025 Full Length Review

 

   California's  solo  project  Chamber  Of  Mirrors  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  an  atmospheric,  melodic,  raw  and  old  school  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2025  album  "Tales  Of  Blood"  which  will  be  released  in  June  by  Iron  Bonehead  Productions.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  a  lot  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  as  well  as  the  music  also  being  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  era.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  yet  old  school  style.  When  synths  are  utilzied  they  also  give  the  album  more  of  an  atmospheric  feeling  along  with  one  song  also  being  an  instrumental.

  On  this  recording  Chamber  Of  Mirrors  brings  out  a  very  raw,  old  school,  melodic  and  atmospheric  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  mid  90's  era.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  sorcery  and  ancient  darkness  themes.   

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Chamber  of  Mirrors  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric,  melodic,  raw  and  old  school  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Dominion"  "Ancient  Ember  Of  Endless  Time"  and  "I  Am  Eternal".  8  out  of  10.

Chamber Of Mirrors/Moonlight Decay/Drakkar Productions/2023 Full Length Review

 

  Searles  Valley,  California's  solo  project  Chamber  Of  Mirrors  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  raw,  atmospheric,  melodic  and  old  school  form  of  occult  black  metal  and  this  is a  review  of  his  2023  album  "Moonlight  Decay"  which  was  released  by  Drakkar  Productions.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  as  well  as  the  music  also  being  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  era.

  When  synths  are  utilized  they  also  give  the  music  more  of  an  atmospheric  feeling  while  also  adding  in  some  symphonic  touches.  The  songs  also  add  in a   good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  as  well  as  the  music  also  bringing  in  a  lo-fi  atmosphere  at  times,  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  and  a  couple  of  the  tracks are also  instrumentals.    

  On  this  recording  Chamber  of  Mirrors  brings  in  a  very  old  school  90's  approach  to  his  atmospheric,  melodic  and  raw  style  of  occult  black  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism,  Mythology  and  Darkness  themes.  

  In  my  opinion  this  is  ano5ther  great  sounding  recording  from  Chamber  Of  Mirrors  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric,  melodic  and  raw  occult  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Black  Heart"  "Knights  Of  The  Infernal  Realm"  and  "Cloaked  by  The  Shadows  Of  Night".  8  out  of  10.

  Chamber  Of  Mirrors  are  a  solo  project  from  Searles  Valley,  California  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  raw  and  atmospheric  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  2022  album  "Shadow  Kingdom".

  A  very  fast,  raw  and  melodic  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  the  synths  also  give  the  music  more  of  an  atmospheric  feeling  when  they  are  utilized  and  the  music  also  adds  in  a  lot  of  old  school  influences.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  when  they  are  added  into  the  songs  along  with  the  music  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  modern  touches  as  will  as  one  track  being  a  synth  oriented  instrumental  before  closing  the  album  with  a  heavier  track.

  

  On  this  recording  Chamber  of  Mirrors  remains  to t he  raw  and  atmospheric  style  of  black  metal  he  had  established  on  his  previous  release.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism,  Mythology  and  Anti  Christianity  themes.

Chamber Of Mirrors/Apocalyptic Dream/Humanity's Plague Productions/2022 Demo Review

 

  Chamber  Of  Mirrors  are  a  solo  project  from  Searles  Valley,  California  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  atmospheric  form  of  occult  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2022  demo  "Apocalyptic  Dream"  which  will  be  released  on  April  15th  by  Humanity's  Plague  Productions.

  A  synth  orientated  intro  starts  off  the  demo  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  and  also  introducing  raw  tremolo  picking  onto  the  recording.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  while  the  music  also  has  its  atmospheric  moments  and  synths  also  make  a  return  return  on  the  later  songs.

  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  when  the  music  speeds  up.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  songs  also  showing  influences  from  both  the  old  school  and  modern  era's  of  the  genre.

  Chamber  of  Mirrors  plays  a  style  of  occult  black  metal  that  is  very  raw,  atmospheric  and  traditional  sounding.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  occultism,  mythology  and  anti  Christianity  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Chamber  Of  Mirrors  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  atmospheric  occult  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  demo.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Bed  Of  Thorns"  and  "Voice  From  The  Distant  Winds".  8  out  of  10.
