Ruin Lust/Dissimulant/20 Buck Spin/2023 Full Length Review

 

  New  York's  Ruin  Lust  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  bestial  mixture  of  war,  black  and  death  emtal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2023  album  "Dissimulant"  which  will  be  released  on  September  29th  by  20  Buck  Spin.

  A  very  distorted  sound  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast,  raw  and  brutal  war  emtal  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  a  mixture  of  bestial  death  emtal growls  and  black  emtal s creams  while  melodies  can  also  be  heard  in  some  of  the  guitar  riffing.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  chaotic  style  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  The  songs  also  mix  influences  from  both  the  old  school  and  modern  era's  of  the  genre  and  the  whole  recording  sticks  to  a  very  heavy  and  brutal  direction.

  On  this  recording  Ruin  Lust  remains  true  to  the  bestial  mixture  of  war,  black  and  death  metal  that  they have  established  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  war  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Ruin  Lust  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  war  and  bestial  black/death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Eden"  "Purge"  and  "Chemical  Wind".  8  out  of  10.

  Ruin  Lust  are  a  band  from  New  York  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  bestial  mixture  of  war,  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2020  album  "City  Of  Babel"  which  will  be  released  in  March  by  20  Buck  Spin.

  A  very  dark  and  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast,  raw  and  brutal war  metal  direction  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  tremolo  picking.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  chaotic  style  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  bestial  growls.

  Angry  sounding  black  metal  screams  are  also  utilized  at  times  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  small  amount  of  melody  at  times.  The  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  as  well  as  all  of  the  music  sticking  to  a  very  heavy,  raw  and  brutal  sound  and  the  closing  track  is  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  On  this  recording  Ruin  Lust  remain  true  to  the  bestial  mixture  of  war,  black  and  death  metal  that  they  had  establish  on  their  previous  release.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  war,  death  and  occultism  themes.

Ruin Lust/Sacrifice/Sentient Ruin Laboratories/2019 Vinyl Review

  Ruin  Lust  are  a  band  from  new  York  that  plays  a  bestial  mixture  of  war,  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2019  album  "Sacrifice"  which  was  released  by  Sentient  Ruin  Laboratories.

  Apocalyptic  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  musical  direction   along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  some  dissonant  structures  at  times.  Black  metal  screams  are  also  a  very  huge  part  of  the  recording  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  war  metal  elements  can  also  be  heard.

  Bestial  growls  are  also  utilized  at  times  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  When  tremolo  picking  is  utilized  it  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  melody  and  as  the  album  progresses  the  soundscapes  also  make  a  brief  return  before  returning  back  to  a  heavier  direction  and  on  the  later  tracks  is  also  long  and  epic  in  length,  melodic  guitar  leads  can  also  be  heard  briefly.

  Ruin  Lust  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  war,  black  and  death  metal  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  war,  death  and  occultism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Ruin  Lust  are  a  very  great  sounding  bestial  mixture  of  war,  black  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Sacrifice"  and  "Mirrors  Of  broken  Blood".  8  out  of  10.
