Moonworshipper are a band from France that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays a mixture of depressive black, doom, post metal, trip hop. jazz and soundtrack music and this is a review of their 2021 ep "13 Fullmoon Nights of Doubt" which will b e released in December by Hypnotic Dirge Records.
Acoustic guitars start off the ep while the only track that is presented on the recording is also over 20 minutes in length. Female vocals are also added into some parts of the song while stringed instruments can also be heard at times and when the music goes into a heavier direction high pitched depressive black metal screams start making their presence known.
Elements of doom metal can also be heard in the slower sections of the track while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. Synths and trip hop style beats can also be heard briefly and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the song more of a raw feeling.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with a brief use of spoken word parts as well as the guitar leads being done in more of a post rock style when they are utilized, the music also adds in a small amount of jazz and so untrack music touches at times. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover sadness, loneliness and love themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Moonworshipper and if you are a fan of depressive post black and doom metal with some elements of trip hop, jazz and soundtrack music, you should check out this ep. 8 out of 10.
