  This  is  a  review  of  a  compilation  from  Nailed  Nazarene  Industries  called  "The  World  Of  Lies"  which  consists  of  black  metal  bands  from  different  parts  of  the  world  and  we  will  review  the  tracks  one  by  one.

 Xathrites (Iraq) "No Longer Me".

  The  song  starts  our  with  some  drum  beats  and  dark  yet  heavy  riffing  along  with  some  high  pitched  depressive  black  metal  screams  a  few  seconds  later.  At  times  the  music  also  gets  very  atmospheric  sounding  along  with  some  melodies  also  being  utilized  at  times,  clean  singing  can  also  be  heard  briefly  as  well  as  the  song  being  long  and  epic  in length  and  there  is  also  a  brief  use  of  stringed  instruments.  The  track  also  always  sticks  to  a  slower  direction  and  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.

  Destined  To  Suffer  (Australia)  "I'm  So  Cold  When  I  Am  Alone".

  Nature  sounds  and  whispers  start  off  the  track  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  and  atmospheric  musical  direction.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  along  with  some  clean  playing  being  utilized  at  times,  the  song  is  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  always  sticks  to  a  slower  musical  direction.

  Agvares  (Russia)  "Clamor  Aeternam".

  Spoken  word  parts  starts  off  the  track  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  while  the  vocals  are  high  pitched  depressive  black  metal  screams.  The  riffs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  along  with  the  faster  sections  of  the  song  also  adding  in  some  blast  beats  as  well  as  the  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style 

  The Kingdom  Of  Peace  (Poland)  "World  Terror".

  The  song  starts  off  with  some  programmed  beats  before  going  into  a  heaver  direction.  Spoken  words  are  also  used  briefly  along  with  the  slower  sections  of  the  song  also  bringing  in  elements  of  doom  metal.   Blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  when  the  music  speeds  up  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  deep  yet  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams.

  "My  Truth".

  Tragic  sounding  keyboards  start  off  the  song    while  the  track  is  also  an  instrumental  which  also  adds  in  some  elements  of  dark  ambient,  acoustic  guitars  can  also  be  heard  briefly.

  Empty  Inside  (Brazil)  "A  minha  libertacao,  o  meu  descanso".

  Clean  playing  starts  off  the  song  along  with  some  drum  beats  a  few  seconds  later  which  also  takes  the  track  into  a  heavier  direction.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  depressive  black  metal  screams  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  and  when  tremolo  picking  is  utilized  it  also  gives  the  song  more  of  a  raw  feeling

  Depersonalization  (Hungary)  "Cigarettes  After  Cigarettes".

    Clean  playing  starts  off  the  track  along  with  some  drum  beats  a  few  seconds  later  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  yet  atmospheric  sounding.  The  track  is  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  as  well  as  being  an  instrumental  and  also  always  sticking  to  a  slower  musical  direction.

  "Thoughts"

  Melodic  guitar  leads  and  acoustic  guitars  start  off  the  song  along  with  the  track  also  being  an  instrumental.  The  music  is  also  mostly  rooted  in  the  post  and  atmospheric  forms  of  black  metal  and  also  sticks  mostly  to  a  slower  musical  direction.

  Hellhole  (Australia)  "Death  Earth".

  Programmed  drum  beats  start  off  the  track  along  with  some  heavy  riffing  a  few  seconds  later.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  the  song  also  gets  very  atmospheric  sounding  at  times  as  well  as  the  guitar  solos  and  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  atmospheric,  depressive,  post  black  metal  and  blackened  doom  metal.  8  out  of  10.

Destined To Suffer/Glass Souls/Nailed Nazarene Industries/2020 Album Re-Issue Review

  This  is  a  review  of  another  recording  from  Australia's  Destined  To  Suffer  which  shows  his  early  style  of  atmospheric  and  depressive  post  black  metal  and  the  album  was  originally  released  in  2019  and  called  "Glass  Souls"  with  the  re-issue  being  released  in  March  by  Nailed  Nazarene  Industries.

  Nature  sounds  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  atmospheric  sounding  synths  and  clean  playing  a  few  seconds  later  which  also  appears  on  later  songs.  Most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  depressive  black  metal  screams  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  post  metal  style.

  The  riffs  also  add  in  a  good  amount  of  melody  while  the  riffs  focus  more  on  a  heavier  power  chord  style.  Whispered  vocals  and  spoken  word  parts  are  also  added  into  some  parts  of  the  recording  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the recording  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them,  stringed  instruments  are  also  utilized  on  some  tracks  and  all  of  the  music  also  sticks  to  a  slower  direction.

  On  this  recording  Destined  To  Suffer  played  a  style  of  depressive  post  black  metal  that  was  very  slow  and  atmospheric  sounding.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark,  depressive  and  suicidal  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  was  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Destined  To  Suffer  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric  and  depressive  post  black  metal,  you  should check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Darkness  Inside" and  "Meaningless  Life".  8  out  of  10.

  Destined  To  Suffer  are  a  solo  project  that  has  recently  been  featured  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  very  atmospheric  and  depressive  form  of  post  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2019  album  "Devastated"  which  will  be  re-issued  in  March  by  Nailed  Nazarene  Industries.

  Rain  and  thunder  sounds  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  atmospheric  elements  a  few  seconds  later  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs.  All  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  depressive  black  metal  screams.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  clean  playing  is  also  brought  into  the  music  at  times.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  post  metal  style  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  great  amount  of  melody,  spoken  word  parts,  whispered  vocals  and  synths  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  all  of  the  music  also  sticks  to  a  slower  direction.

  On  this  recording  Destined  To  Suffer  remains  true  to  the  atmospheric  and  depressive  style  of  post  black  metal  that  he  had  established  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness,  death,  depression  and  suicide  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Destined  To  Suffer  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric  and  depressive  post  black  metal, you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Devastated"  and  "Erase From  Reality".  8out  of  10.

Chagrin/Destined To Suffer Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before can you tell us a little bit more about yourself and your musical projects?
1. I have been making music since 10 years old, I’m self-taught, the main instrument is the guitar, the path to the world of music began for me with punk rock, the first group was assembled at 16, we played punk rock / punk metal, but later my tastes changed just like my worldview, a few years later the group broke up, and I continued to do solo music. For several years I was looking for new groups, but the search was unsuccessful, so I continued to do some work alone. Now there are several people with whom I plan to do something together, but they are few, Varg Sverr will be the main participant.   

2.Musically how do all your projects differ from each other?
  2.They differ in ideology, in the philosophical plan of writing texts - technically speaking, they are not very different, but in terms of sound I try to find my own sound for each project - each project has its own energy and mood, this can be noticeable to the listener.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           

3.Out of all your musical projects which one do you consider to be your main one?
3.Destined to suffer/Chagrin.   

4.Since 2019 you have released a great amount of  material, do you spend a great amount of time writing and creating music?
4.The writing of each album takes from 3 days to 3 weeks, until it is completely ready for listening. What can be said about 2019, this year was fruitful, very fruitful.   

5.Can you tell us a little bit more about some of the lyrical topics that you have explored with your music so far?
 5.The theme of my songs is loneliness, death, and in general I write about the most negative traits in a person. In general, I just write music to share it with people, so I don’t look at all this from a commercial point of view, and my music is completely available for free.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     

6.I have noticed on the albums I have heard so far you avoid fast playing or blast beats, is that going to change on future releases?
      6.I can play different styles of music, from punk rock to thrash metal, but the main style that I like is black metal in all its forms and subgenres.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   

7.While most of your projects are solo you work with another musician on 'Lifeless', do you prefer to record most of your music by yourself?
  7.Initially, my musical practice was only in writing music, due to problems with working with several musicians in other projects, I started to write everything on my own from 2019, I was just tired of waiting for them to do something, I don’t like to waste time on expectations, so it’s easier for me to do everything alone. But now I have several projects with different musicians from other countries, and so far I have managed to make only one album with Varg Sverr from Norway, what will happen next, I don’t know for sure, but I can say one thing: I will continue to write solo projects.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     

8.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?
    8.I definitely can’t say anything, on the Internet I periodically see my work on different sites, someone shares my music on Facebook and sends me various offers, but there are very few of them. Since I definitely do not do all of this from a commercial point of view, there is little information about my work, so few people are familiar with my work, there are people who help with the promotion, and I want to thank them for this, including you. But in general, I can’t give a concrete answer, since no one is engaged in promotion and media in a wide range, and I am not a member of any label. 

9.Where do you see yourself heading into as a musician during the future?
    9.Probably nowhere, I just write music and share it with people. The concert activity for me ended in 2014.                                                 

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
  10.I listen to a variety of music, from punk rock to black metal. Now I mainly listen to heavy music, but in general I do not limit myself to one style and framework, different music helps to develop different ideas. But I don’t
I say that I listen to absolutely everything. Everything is very selective.                                                     

11.What are some of your non musical interests?
 11.I like to relax in the fresh air, especially alone. I like to take pictures, it's unprofessional, but sometimes I take pictures for myself. I also like to read poetry and sometimes watch horror movies. I like to communicate with interesting people, unusual personalities.But alas, there are very few of them in my field of vision. I am also interested in philosophy and the spiritual world of man, but the main occupation and interest is music.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
12.I only have wishes for everyone. I want to wish everyone good luck and more good and interesting music. Do what you like and less of the everyday problems that surround us every day.   His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  clean  playing  and  atmospheric  and  post  rock  elements before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  and  all  of  the  music  sticks  to  a  slower  direction.The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  depressive  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Ruined  Mind  are  a  very  great  sounding  depressive  and  atmospheric  post  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Rotting  World[Inside]".

  Next  up  is  Chagrin  who  returns  with  his  atmospheric  style  of  post  black  metal.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts out  with  some  clean  playing  along  with  the  track  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  The  music  also  mixes  the  heavy  and  atmospheric  elements  together  as  well  as  the  guitar  leads  also  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  and  the  vocals  are  done  in  a  tortured  black  metal  style,  whispers  can  also  be  heard  briefly.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  depressive  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Hellhole  is  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric  post  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  atmospheric,  depressive  and  post  black metal.  8  out  of  10.

  Destined  To  Suffer  is  a  solo  project  from  Australia  that  plays  a  very  atmospheric  form  of  post  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  2019  album  "Rotting World".

  Nature  sounds  start  of  the  album  along  with  some  clean  playing  a  few  seconds  later  while  whispered  voices  can  also  be  heard  in  the  background  briefly.  A  couple  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  as  well  as  the  heavier  riffs  also  adding  in  a  great  amount  of  melody.
