Rimruna/Werm droben nachts der Frostmond thront/Schattenkult Produktionen/Blutmondsphaeren/Kombinant Schwarz Metal//2026 Full Length Review

 

  Rimruna  are  a  band  from  Germany  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  an  atmospheric  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2026  album  "Werm  droben nachts  der  Frostmond  thront"  which  was  released  as  a  joint  effort  between  Schattenkult  Produtionen,  Blutmondsphaeren  and  Komninant  Schwarz  Metall.

  A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  synths  also  add  in  some  atmospheric  touches  when  they  are  utilized.  Spoken  words  can  also  be  heard  at  times along  with  most  of  the  tracks  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

  Melodies  are  also  added  into  a  lot  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  Clean  playing  is  also  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  album  along  with  some  tracks  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  clear  singing  and  the f aster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  lot  of  blast  beats

  

When  tremolo  picking  is  added  into  the  fast  riffing  they  also  give  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling  along  with  the  album  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts,  the  closing  track  is  also  an  instrumental.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  German  and  cover  the  magick  of  the  moon.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Rumruna  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Gefahrte  der  Nacht"  and  "Die  Sage  vom  Flunkenflug".  8  out  of  10.

Rimruna/Der Hatz entronnen/Naturmacht Productions/2017 CD Review

  Rimruna  are  a  duo  from  Germany  that  plays  a  cold,  grim  and  atmospheric  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2017  album  "Der  Hatz  entronnen" which  will  be  released  on  June  25th  by  Naturmacht  Productions.

  Acoustic  guitar  playing  and  wind  sounds  start  off  the  album  and  after  the  intro  the  music  goes  into  a  heavier  direction  along  with  some  drum  beats  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  a  more  raw  feeling.

  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  riffs  also  bring  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  while  most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  when  guitar  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  raw  yet  melodic  style  and  the  music  also  brings  in a   decent  amount  of  second  wave  influences  while  also  sounding  very  modern  at  the  same  time  and  as  the  album  progresses  acoustic  guitars  make  a  brief  return  and  the  album  closes  with  an  instrumental.

  Rimruna  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  raw  and  atmospheric  sounding,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  German  and  cover  nature  and  coldness  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Rimruna  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  atmospheric  black  metal  duo  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Wirrwen"  and  "In  Ewigkeit  versunken".  8  out  of  10.

Rimrunna/Frostbann/2014 CD Review

  Rimrunna  are  a  duo  from  Germany  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  cold  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2014  album  "Frostbann".

  Dark  nature  sounds  and  acoustic  guitars  start  off  the  album  bringing  in  both  finger  picking  and  full  chords  along  with  some  elements  of  folk  music  and  after  the  intro  the  music  starts  going  for  more  of  a  mid  paced  old  school  black  metal  sound  before  speeding  up,  adding  in  blast  beats  and  high  pitched  grim  screams.

  There  is  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  present  throughout  the  recording  and  most  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  some  of  the  songs  also  shows  the  band  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing,  acoustic  guitars,  and  melodies  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  which  also  brings  more  of  a  medieval  atmosphere  to  the  bands  musical  sound.

  Bass  guitars  have  a  very  dominant  presence  on  certain  parts  of  the  recording  and  most  of  the  tracks  focus  on  a  more  of  a  raw,  grim  and  forest  style  of  black  metal  that  is  heavily  rooted  in  the  European  tradition  of  the  mid  90's  and  they  avoid  any  use  of  solos  and  leads  to  focus  more  on  a  true,  raw  and  atmospheric  black  metal  sound  and  they  close  the  album  with  another  acoustic  instrumental.

  Rimrunna  brings  in  a  very  dark,  raw  and  grim  approach  to  their  old  school  style  of  black  metal  bringing  in  10  minute  tracks  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  which  makes  the  music  has  more  of  a  90's  feeling,  the  production  sounds  very  dark,  raw  and  old  school  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  German  and  cover  nature  and  coldness.

  In  my  opinion  Rimrunna  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw  and  old  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Frostbann"  "Winters  Macht"  and  "Die  Sage  vom  ewigen  Eis".  8  out  of  10.
