Veldraveth/Martyrdom/Grimm Distribution/More Hate Productions/Kuyen Producciones/2021 CD Review

Veldraveth  are  a  band  from  Venezuela  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on t his  recording plays  an  occult mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2021  album  "Martyrdom"  which  was  released  as  a  joint  effort  between  Grimm  Distribution,  More  hate  productions  and  Kuyen  Producciones.

A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording.  Vocals  are  mostly  death  metal  growls  as  well  as  some  black  metal s creams  also  being  utilized  at  times  along  with  some  of  the  tracks  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.

When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  black  metal  style  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  vocals  also  adding  in  a  more  angry  shouting  style  on  some  of  the  later  tracks,  as  well  as  one  song  also  being  an  instrumental  and towards  the  end  a  brie  use  of  synths  and  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard.

On  this  album  Veeldraveth  takes  the  raw  aggression  of  black  emtal  and  mixes  it  in  with  the  vocal  style  of  brutality  of  blackened  death  metal  to  create  a  very  aggressive  sounding  recording.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism,  Darkness  and  Death  themes.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  album  from  Veldraveth  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  occult  black  and  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "On  The  precipice  Of  Enlightenment"  and  "Death  &  Influence".  8  out  of  10.

Veldraveth Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the recording and release of the new album?

Of course the updates for all regarding the band's plans since we recorded and release our most recent album was a duplication of the work we have been in the past months, we have been doing some gigs in our country and preparing some visual works and some other stuff for the promotion of Malformations of God.

2.in March you had released a new album, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording and also how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

Malformations of God is a different album for many reasons, we deal with some textures changes and some sound changes this time, we are free to work on the way we believe is the better, so we decided as for the type of compositions the sound of this album may be some aggressive. I am satisfy with the final result.

3.In the beginning you had a more of a black metal style but the newer material also mixes in a lot of death metal, what was the decision behind going into this direction?

I told you before, we manage to change our sound when we heard the type of composition, of course we have more black metal in the past, but we always will be a black metal styled band, I think we are free to look and experiment different things.

4.This is your first full length since 2009, what was going on during that time span?

If you see our discography you can realize we have been so busy working on a split who was released with Funebria, a band from our country, and we spend a lot of time working in the releasing of the ten anniversary box called "Moumentos de oscuridad y muerte" this took a lot of time, and plus the retirement of some members of the band in these times, we have experienced a lot of dead time, but we never rest.

5.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the newer music?

We manage to write some stuff from different sources, this time we explore and try to explain our point of views to the "believers in god" of any religion, we treat they as " malformed people, from here is wher the title of the album was taken.

6.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Veldraveth'?

Veldraveth was emerged some years ago, we like to tell that the meaning is that Veldraveth is the structure of chaos.

7.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?

We have been playing live since the born of the band, I think we have do some good shows in our country as well we have bad shows, by some external issues or problems with organizer but lately shows have been gettng more organized and better as well, this is a good point.

8.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?

Of course we are planning to tour in latin america very soon.

9.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black and death metal?

The feedback was very impressive, we have receive messages from people from different countries, I think we're approaching in a good way, always in the vein of the under.

10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

We never stop to create new music and show it to the world, we don't want to stop the machinery, of course Veldraveth must seek his own way, it's a travel to discovering ourselves

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Fuck yeah, we tray to sintetize influences from years before to our actual days, it's hard to mention all, but specially I am obsessed with Hypocrisy and bands like Belphegor, Weapon, Darkthone, to the more new acts like Cult of fire, Bathuska, and many more.

12.How would you describe your views on Satanism and Occultism?

I always will answer this the same way, people are free to look by his own, what is better for they, I think occult is a way of living, is interesting and exciting, but I am not into religious belief, neither Satan, I'm free of "Christian vision" on the world.

13.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Thanks for the interview, hope you can get a listen to the new album, look for it in the social networks, bye.

Veldraveth/Malformations Of God/Iron County Records/2016 CD Review

Veldraveth  are  a  band  from  Venezuela  that  plays  a  very  raw  and  satanic  mixture   of black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  album  "Malformations  For  God"  which  was  released  on  cassette  by  Iron  County  Records.

A  very  distorted  sound  along  with  blast  beats  start  off  the  song  as  well  as  adding  in  some  heavy  riffing  and  death metal  growls  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  can  be  heard.

During  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  the  music  brings  in  a  very  raw  black  metal  feeling  and  you  can  also  hear  a  small  amount  of  melody  in  some  of  the  riffing  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic fashion .

A  lot  of  the  music  also  mixes  in  a  great  amount  of  old  school  death  metal  elements  while  black metal  screams  can  also  be  heard  at  times  and  a  couple  of  the  tracks  are very long  and  epic  in  length  and  there  is  also  a  brief  use  of  female  vocals  while  a  later  song  brings  in a  brief  use  of  rain  and  thunder  sounds  and  all  of  the songs  also  stick  to  a  heavy  musical  direction.

Veldraveth  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  second  wave  black  metal  and  old  school  death  metal  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism,  Occultism,  Anti  Religion,  Darkness,  Violence  and  War  themes.

In  my  opinion  Veldraveth  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "In  Chaos  Born"  "Ominous  Omen"  "Thunderstorms"  and  "Murder".  8  out  of  10.
