Vortex Of End/Abhorrent Fever/Osmose Productions/2021 CD Review

 

  France's  Vortex  Of  End  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  their  aggressive  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  from  their  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2021  album  "Abhorrent  Fever"  which  will b e  released  on  September  24th  by  Osmose  Productions.

  Dark  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  vocals  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  angry  sounding  black  metal  screams.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  gave  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  clean  singing  can  also  be  heard  on  a  couple  of  songs.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  a  couple  of  the  tracks  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Elements  of  death  metal  are  also  utilized  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  both  modern  and  old  school  influences  as  well  as  the  music  also  having  its  atmospheric  moments,  synths  and  spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  acoustic  guitars  are  also  added  on  the  closing t rack.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism,  Evil,  Death  and  Revelation  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Vortex  Of  End  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black  and  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Perdition  Whorl"  and  "Putrid  Fluids".  8  out  of  10.

Vortex Of End/Ardens Fvror/Osmose Productions/2019 CD Review

  Vortex  Of  End  are  a  band  from  France  that  has  had  an  album  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  plays  a  very  aggressive  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2019  album  "Ardens  Fvror"  which  will  be  released  in  May  by  Osmose  productions.

  Dark  sounding  synths  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  clean  playing  and  melodic  chants  a  few  seconds  later  before  going  into  a  heavier  musical  direction.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.

  A  decent  amount  of  melody  can  also  be  heard  in  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  angry  sounding  black  metal  screams.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  dark  and  melodic  style  along  with  the  songs  also  bringing  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  Some of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  ritualistic  soundscapes  are  also  added  into  the  music  at  times.  One  track  also  introduces  death  metal  growls  onto  the  recording  and  at  times  the  vocals  also  get  very  semi  melodic  sounding,  acoustic  guitars  can  also  be  heard  briefly  on  the  closing  track.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism,  Evil,  Death  and  Revelation  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Vortex  Of  End  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black  and  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Venomvs  Tongue"  "Ira  Dei"  and  "Satvrnian  Ascension".  8  out  of  10.

Vortex Of End/Fvlgvr Lvx Terror/Deadlight Entertainment/2015 CD Review

  Vortex  Of  End  are  a  band  from  France  that  plays  a  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  album  "Fvlgvr Lvx Terror"  which  was  released  by  Deadlight  Entertainment.

   Avant  garde  sounds  start  off  the  album  giving  the  recording  an  epic  feeling  along  with  some  spoken  word  samples  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  direction  that  is  very  heavily  influenced  by  death  metal  along  with  some  morbid  sounding  melodies  and  on  the  second  track  black  metal  screams  and  blast  beats  make  their  presence  known.

  All  of the  musical  instruments  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  the  music an be very  technical  at times  and  the  songs  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts and   growls  can  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  the  fast  parts bring in  a  raw style          of  black   metal  and  the  music  also  sounds  very  modern  and  progressive  at  times    along with  a  touch  of  post  metal  and  as  the  album  progresses  more  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized.

  Vortex  Of  End  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  more  of  a  modern  style  of  black  metal  along  with  some  bestial  elements  and  mixes  it  in  with  a  heavy  dose  of  death  and  a  touch  of  post  metal  to  create  a  style  of  their  own,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  yet  powerful  at  the  same  time  while  the  lyrics  cover  Death,  Occultism,  Evil  and  Revelation  themes.  

  In  my  opinion  Vortex  Of  End  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Atomeaters"  "Winds  Of  Adversity"  and  "Stellertrance".  8  out  of  10.
