An Autumn For Crippled Children/All Fell Silent, Everything Went Quiet/Prosthetic Records/2020 Full Length Review

  Netherlands's  An  Autumn  For  Crippled  Children  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  the  mixture  of  post  black  metal  and  shoegaze  from  their  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2020  album  "All  Fell  Silent,  Everything  Went  Quiet  which  will  be  released  in  May  by  Prosthetic  Records.

Clean  post  rock  style  playing  starts  off  the  album  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.  Atmospheric  sounding  keyboards  also  mix  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  music  along  with  the  songs  also  adding  in  a  great  amount  of  shoegaze  elements.

  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  depressive  black  metal screams  while  the  music  sticks  to  mostly  a  slow or  mid  paced  direction.  Influences  of  doom  and  goth  metal  can  also  be  heard  in  the  slower  sections  of  the  songs  along  with  the  guitar  riffing  adding  in  some  melodies  at  times  and  when  guitar  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  and  as  the  album  progresses  a  brief  use  of  fast  playing  and  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard  on  a  couple  of  tracks.

  On  this  recording  An  Autumn  For  Crippled  Children  remain  true  to  the  mixture  of  post  black  metal  and  shoegaze  that  they  have  established  on  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  depression, anguish,  anger,  hate  and  love  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  An  Autumn  For  Crippled  Children  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  post  black  metal  and  shoegaze,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "I  Became  You"  "Paths"  "The  Failing  Senses"and  "Distance".  8  out  of  10.

  An  Autumn  For  Crippled  Children  are  a  band  that  has  had  an  album  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a  mixture  of  post  black  metal  and  shoegaze  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "The  Light  Of  September"  which  was  released  by  Consouling  Sounds.

  Powerful  sounding  bass  guitars  and  shoegaze  elements  start  off  the  album  along  with  some    synths  that  also  add  in  touches  of  new  wave  and  synth  pop  also  being  utilized  at  times  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  black  metal  screams  as  well  as  the  solos  and  leads  being  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.

  Elements  of  post  rock  can  be  heard  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  along  with  the  songs  also  bringing  in  a  great  amount  of  clean  playing  while  one  of  the  tracks  is  an instrumental  and  when  tremolo  picking  is  utilized  it  gives  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling  as  well  as  a small  amount  of  blast  beats  being  utilized  briefly  when  the  music  speeds  up  briefly  and  the  riffs  also  utilize  a  lot  of  melody.

  On  this  recording  An  Autumn  For  Crippled  Children  remain  true  to  the  shoegaze  and  post  black  metal  mixture  of  previous  releases,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  depression,  anger,  anguish,  love  and  hate  themes.

  An  Autumn  For  Crippled  Children  are  a  band  from  the  Netherlands  that  plays  a  post  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2016  album  "Eternal" which  was  released  by  Wickerman  Recordings.

  Atmospheric  sounding  synths  start  off  the  album  and  they  also  bring  in  elements  of  ambient  and  post  rock  while  also  mixing  in  with  the  more  heavy  and  melodic  musical  style  a  few  seconds  later  and  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  the  recording  while the  vocals  are  mostly  depressive  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

  Clean  playing  along  with  elements  of  shoegaze  can  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  while  the  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  fashion d  all  of  the  songs  stick  to  either  a  slow  or  mid  paced  musical  direction  while  also  mixing  in  a  more  modern  style  of  black  metal  and  no  fast  parts  or  blast  beats  are  ever  utilized.

  An  Autumn  For  Crippled  Children  plays a  style  of  post  black  metal  that  is  very  atmospheric  as  well  as  incorporating  a  great  amount  of  shoegaze  elements,  the  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  depression,  anguish,  anger,  hate,  and  love  themes.
