Ancestral Blood/Forgotten Myths And Legends-Chapter One/WormHoleDeath Records/2023 Full Length Review

 

  Ancestral  Blood  are  a  band  from  Charlotte,,  North  Carolina  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  plays  battle  orientated  and  celestial  from  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of t heir  2023  album  "Forgotten  Myths  And  Legends-Chapter  One"  which  will b e  released  on  July  21st  by  WormHoleDeath  Records.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  while  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to t hem  and  the  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.  

  Melodies  are  also  added  into  a  lot  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  music  also  has  its  atmospheric  moments.  A  great  portion  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  some  keyboards  also  being  mixed  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times  and  the  music  is  heavily  rooted  in  the  mid  90's  era.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also hear  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  one  song  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  water  and  nature  sounds  as  well  as  a  couple  of  songs  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  spoken  word  parts  and  clear  vocals,  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  briefly.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  lost  stories  and  legends  from  different  cultures  and  eras  

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Ancestral  Blood  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  epic  and  atmospheric  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Forgotten  myths  And  Legends"  "Through  Enchanted  Forest  of  Illusion"  and  "Lost  on  A  Boundless  Journey  (Voyage)".  8/5  out  of  10.

Ancestral Blood/Vesterian/Through The Enchanted Forest Of Illusions/Dead Beneath The Dark Open Seas/2022 Split EP Review

 

  This  is  a  review  of  a  self  released  split  ep  between  U.S.A's  Ancestral  Blood  and  Vesterian  called  "Through  The  Enchanted  Forest/Dead  Beneath  The  Dark  Aopen  Seas"  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Ancestral  Blood  a  band  that  plays  a  very  epic  and  majestic  form  of  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  some  water  sounds  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavier  and  melodic  musical  direction.  All  of  the  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  song  is  over  8  minutes  in  length.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  along  with  some  spoken  word  parts  also  being  utilized  at  times.

  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  decent  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  song  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  When  keyboards  are  utilized  they  also  give  the  track  more  of  an  epic  and  symphonic  feeling  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  lot  of  melody,  melodic  guitar  leads  can  also be  heard  briefly.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  ancient  myths  and  legends.

  In  my  opinion  Ancestral  blood  are  a   very  great  sounding  epic  majestic  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.

  Next  up  is  Vesterian  who  return  with  their  aggressive  and  satanic  style  of  black  metal.

  Their  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  the  sounds  of  the  sea  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  utilizes a   great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Spoken  word  parts  can  also  be  heard  briefly  while  the  track  is  also  over  8  minutes  in  length.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams.

  Keyboards  can  also  be  heard  in t he  background  as  well  as  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  lot  of  moody  and  the  song  also  adds  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  guitar  leads  and  solos  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and raw  and  the lyrics  cover  the  dis appearance  of  a  girl.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  track  from  Vesterian  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  satanic  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  their  side  of  the  split.

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  epic  black  metal.  8  out  of  10.
