Trond are a solo project from Germany that plays a very traditional form of black metal and this is a review of his 2019 album "Willkommen Im Unheil" which was released as a joint effort between Satanath Records and Black Metal Propaganda Deutschland.
Ritualistic soundscapes start off the album before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very dark and melodic direction and the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams.
A decent amount of dark sounding melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them. Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as one track also adding in a small amount of semi melodic vocals.
The music also brings in a decent mixture of both old school and modern influences while clean guitars are also added onto the closing track which is also an instrumental. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in German and cover darkness, death and war themes.
In my opinion Trond is a very great sounding traditional black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Im Herzen Des Windes" "Kinder Im Herzschlag Der Ende" "Nimmerude Dunkelheit" and "Mein Todloser Geist". 8 out of 10.
